‘Wayne’s World’ is one of the most beloved comedies to come out of ‘Saturday Night Live’. Released by Paramount in February 1992 and directed by Penelope Spheeris, the film starred Mike Myers as Wayne Campbell and Dana Carvey as his best friend, Garth Algar.

The comedy was a huge success, grossing $183.1 million worldwide on a $20 million budget. It is still the highest-grossing film based on an ‘SNL’ sketch, and a sequel, ‘Wayne’s World 2’, followed the next year.

For years, fans have wondered whether Wayne and Garth would ever return. Now Myers may have given them a reason to hope, as CoveredGeekly reports that the actor potentially teased a third film on Instagram.

The caption shared from his post plays on the idea of making the world Wayne’s again, before declaring that it will be his. Myers didn’t share any further details, and no studio has confirmed a new movie.

Still, fans quickly started speculating. The playful wording sounded a lot like Wayne himself, which was enough to get longtime fans excited. This isn’t the first time fans have hoped for a reunion. In 2023, Carvey said a third film was possible and joked that they might even do it with puppets, adding that he was always game.

He has also stirred up excitement himself. Giant Freakin Robot reported that Carvey once shared an Instagram image of himself dressed as Garth, standing at an easel beside a painting of Wayne lounging on a couch in a setting that looked like the original basement.

That post, too, came without any official announcement. Neither actor has ruled out a third film, but nothing has been confirmed. The ‘Wayne’s World’ family has reunited several times over the years. In 2020, most of the cast appeared in Josh Gad’s virtual ‘Reunited Apart’ series, and in 2021, Myers and Carvey reprised their roles in an Uber Eats Super Bowl commercial with Cardi B.

Tia Carrere, who played Cassandra Wong, has also kept the door open. In 2025, she told Good Morning America that she was open to a sequel and even suggested a crossover with Bill and Ted.

Earlier this year, Carrere reunited with Myers at the Canadian Screen Awards in Toronto, where he received the Icon Award. She wore a red dress that resembled her character’s outfit from the first film.

The original film’s cast included Rob Lowe, Lara Flynn Boyle and Brian Doyle-Murray, with cameos from Chris Farley, Meat Loaf and Alice Cooper. Myers co-wrote the script with Bonnie Turner and Terry Turner, and the film marked his feature film debut.

Myers went on to lead the ‘Austin Powers’ trilogy and voice the title character in ‘Shrek’. Carvey’s later films included ‘Clean Slate’, ‘Trapped in Paradise’ and ‘Little Nicky’ before he stepped back from movies to raise his family.

For now, fans should treat the Instagram post as a fun tease and not a confirmation. There’s no word on a script, a studio deal, or whether Carvey would be involved. Still, after years of reunions, hints, and nostalgia, it’s clear that interest in Wayne and Garth hasn’t faded. If Myers is serious, fans will be more than ready to party on once again.
