A Mystery Blonde Woman Was Just Spotted Riding Shotgun in the New Batmobile on the Set of ‘The Batman: Part II’
Set photos and leaked footage have become the primary way fans have pieced together what Matt Reeves is building for his ‘Batman‘ sequel, especially given how tightly Warner Bros. has kept actual plot details under wraps. Every new clip from the Glasgow shoot has turned into its own mini mystery for fans to dissect.
That mystery deepened considerably with the film’s central romantic subplot still largely unconfirmed. Ever since reports first surfaced that a major new star had joined the cast in an undisclosed role, speculation about who exactly would be riding alongside Bruce Wayne this time around has only intensified.
Now a new video from the production has given fans something concrete to speculate about. Footage from the Glasgow set shows a blonde woman sitting in the passenger seat of the Batmobile, immediately reigniting questions about who she might be playing in ‘The Batman: Part II.’
The timing of this sighting lines up closely with previous reporting that Scarlett Johansson is set to take on a major role in the sequel. Reports from outlets including Deadline and Variety indicated she was closing in on becoming the film’s first big new cast addition, though her specific character has never been officially confirmed.
Some early rumors suggested Johansson could be playing a love interest for Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne, while other reports have floated the possibility of her portraying Vicki Vale, a journalist character with a long history in Batman mythology. A blonde woman sitting beside Batman in his own vehicle certainly fits neatly into either of those possibilities.
Beyond the mystery passenger, details about the sequel’s actual plot remain scarce. What has been confirmed is that the story picks up sometime after the events of HBO’s ‘The Penguin’ series, continuing to build out the aftermath of Gotham’s catastrophic flood from the first film.
Notably absent from the current cast list is Zoe Kravitz’s Catwoman, with Variety reporting she isn’t expected to return for this installment. That absence has left plenty of fans frustrated, given how central her chemistry with Pattinson’s Batman was to the first film’s romantic thread, making the identity of this new blonde character all the more significant to the story’s direction.
Johansson isn’t the only notable name joining the sequel’s ensemble. Sebastian Stan has also signed on in an undisclosed role, continuing the trend of the production keeping its new characters deliberately mysterious ahead of release.
Returning cast members include Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne, Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth. Barry Keoghan is also expected to return in some capacity as the Joker, continuing a thread first teased at the end of the original film.
Director Matt Reeves confirmed earlier this year that the sequel is set during winter, sharing an early teaser image of the Batmobile undergoing a camera test captioned “SnowTires.” That wintry setting has continued showing up across subsequent set photos and footage, reinforcing just how different this film’s atmosphere will feel compared to the noir-drenched original.
With so many pieces of the story still deliberately obscured, a single shot of an unidentified blonde woman riding in the Batmobile has been more than enough to send fans into overdrive. Whether she turns out to be Johansson’s character or someone else entirely, the mystery adds one more layer to a production that has clearly mastered the art of the tease.
Who do you think the mystery blonde woman in the Batmobile is?
