A Real Brawl Reportedly Broke Out on ‘The Gentlemen’ Set, and Theo James Was Left Stunned
Guy Ritchie’s ‘The Gentlemen’ has made a name for itself with stylish violence, sharp-suited aristocrats and gangsters who settle scores with their fists. The Netflix series has become one of the streamer’s most reliable British hits, and production on its next chapter is already well underway.
Season 2 premiered globally on September 3 with all 8 episodes, moving much of the action to Lake Maggiore on the border of Italy and Switzerland. Netflix renewed the series for a third season in August, before the second season even arrived, and the cameras are rolling once again.
Now it seems the drama has spilled off the screen. According to a report from The Sun, picked up by Page Six, a fist fight broke out on the set of ‘The Gentlemen’ during Season 3 filming, reportedly leaving star Theo James shocked by what he witnessed.
The incident reportedly took place at West Wycombe Park House in Buckinghamshire, England, as the cast and crew prepared to shoot a fishing sequence. An unnamed source told The Sun that tensions suddenly boiled over, describing the scene as complete chaos.
The fight reportedly involved 2 unnamed production workers. They were separated, and one of the men appeared to have a cut lip. James, who plays Eddie Horniman, was not involved in the altercation. He was reportedly left bemused by the unexpected outburst on set.
The details of the incident are still limited. The cause of the fight, the identities of the workers, and whether any disciplinary action followed have not been revealed. It’s also unclear whether the scuffle had any impact on the filming schedule. Page Six said it reached out to representatives for the show but had not received a response, and Netflix has not commented publicly.

Because the account comes from an unnamed source rather than an official statement, fans should treat the specifics with some caution until the production addresses it. The reported incident comes as anticipation for Season 3 continues to build. The Sun has also reported that BAFTA winner Robert Carlyle will join the cast, though Netflix has not confirmed the casting or revealed his character.
James has previously said he would love to see someone in the mold of old-school Carlyle join the show, so the reported casting would be a dream come true for the star. Maya Jama is also reportedly returning with an expanded role as Aisha.
Returning cast members include James, Kaya Scodelario as Susie Glass, and Vinnie Jones as Geoff Seacombe. Daniel Ings, Joely Richardson and Ray Winstone have also appeared in earlier seasons.
Season 2 picked up a year after Eddie and Susie formed an uneasy alliance to run Bobby Glass’ criminal empire. As Bobby’s decisions grew increasingly erratic, the pair were forced to weigh a coup against keeping the peace.
The season added an impressive lineup of new faces, including Hugh Bonneville, Benjamin Clementine, Michele Morrone and Sergio Castellitto. Boxer Chris Eubank Jr. also joined in a wildcard casting.
The series’ success helps explain the excitement around each new season. Season 1 reportedly passed 75 million streams, and Season 2 reportedly drew 22 million streams in its first 3 weeks, according to The Sun.

With those numbers, Netflix has every reason to keep the series going strong. Fans will be hoping this real-life scuffle stays a minor footnote and doesn’t slow down production on the next season. No premiere date has been announced for Season 3. Until then, viewers can stick to the onscreen fights, which come with considerably better choreography.
