A third Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem movie is already being talked about. Paramount is figuring out what to do next with the Ninja Turtles franchise.

The studio is so impressed by the success of Sonic the Hedgehog that it brought in producer Neal H. Moritz, who worked on Sonic, to help guide a new live-action Turtles movie. That movie already has a big Thanksgiving release date set for November 17, 2028.

Meanwhile, the TV division has canceled the spin-off series connected to Seth Rogen’s Mutant Mayhem. This sparked some rumors in the industry that the animated sequel might be in trouble.

But sources say Paramount, which has already spent $40 million on Mutant Mayhem 2, is still excited about the sequel and plans to stick with its October 2027 release. The studio is also talking with Seth Rogen and his production company Point Grey about a possible third movie.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem came out in 2023 as an animated superhero movie. It’s based on the Turtles characters created by Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman. Jeff Rowe directed the movie and co-wrote it with Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and writers Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit. The film rebooted the Turtles series for a new generation.

The movie features the voices of Micah Abbey, Shamon Brown Jr., Nicolas Cantu, and Brady Noon as the Turtles. Other stars include Ayo Edebiri, Maya Rudolph, John Cena, Seth Rogen, Rose Byrne, Natasia Demetriou, Giancarlo Esposito, Jackie Chan, Ice Cube, and Paul Rudd. The story follows the Turtles as they try to fit in with the world and take on a mysterious crime boss, Superfly, and his gang of mutants.

A month before the first movie’s release in July 2023, the sequel was already approved. This second movie will bring in the Shredder as the main villain, who was teased at the end of Mutant Mayhem. Jeff Rowe will return as director with co-directors Spears and Kassai. Point Grey is co-producing again, with Rogen, Goldberg, Weaver, Josh Fagen, and Ramsay McBean listed as producers. The sequel was first set to hit theaters on October 9, 2026, but it was later moved to September 17, 2027.
