Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Sam Taylor-Johnson recently escaped to Italy for a romantic getaway to mark a special milestone. The celebrated director turned 59 on Wednesday, March 4, and the couple chose the historic backdrop of Rome to commemorate the occasion.

Aaron, 35, took to social media to share the intimate celebration with his followers, posting several images from their time in the Eternal City. His tribute featured the pair posing together alongside striking captures of classical artwork found within Rome’s renowned museums.

Accompanying the photos was a heartfelt message from the actor, who wrote that it was just you and me… in Rome as he wished his partner a happy birthday. Sam reciprocated the digital affection by sharing her own recap of the trip on March 3, which included a dynamic shot of Aaron mid-leap against the Italian architecture.

The couple’s long-standing relationship began in 2009 on the set of Nowhere Boy, Sam’s directorial debut that explored the formative years of a young John Lennon. They officially wed in 2012 and have since built a large, blended family that includes their two daughters, Romy and Wylda, as well as Sam’s older children from a previous marriage.

In June 2022, they reaffirmed their commitment to one another by holding a vow renewal ceremony in honor of their tenth wedding anniversary. This tradition of public celebration continues annually, as Aaron consistently marks Sam’s birthday with snapshots of their various travels and expressions of his love for spending every moment with her.

When Aaron celebrated his own 35th birthday this past June, Sam returned the gesture with a series of candid photos showing them playing cards. She expressed her devotion in French, writing Mon Amour. Je t’aime, further highlighting the deep connection they have maintained throughout their fourteen-year partnership.

As of March, Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s professional life is moving at a fast pace with several high-profile projects hitting theaters. He recently starred in the post-apocalyptic horror 28 Years Later, though he was notably absent from its recent sequel, The Bone Temple, which shifted focus to his character’s son.

Fans can soon see the actor in the heist thriller Fuze, which is scheduled for a wide theatrical release in the United States later this year. The film, directed by David Mackenzie, features an impressive ensemble cast including Theo James, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and Sam Worthington, following a high-stakes robbery involving an unexploded World War II bomb.

Later this year, Aaron will reunite with director Robert Eggers for the medieval horror film Werwulf, set to premiere on December 25. This project follows their successful collaboration on the 2024 gothic masterpiece Nosferatu and will also star Lily-Rose Depp and Willem Dafoe in a dark tale set in 13th-century England.

Sam Taylor-Johnson is also staying active in the industry following the 2024 release of her Amy Winehouse biopic, Back to Black. She has been spotted accompanying Aaron to various high-fashion events, including the Saint Laurent Menswear show in Paris earlier this year, as she continues to develop new directorial ventures.

While the couple remains a fixture on the red carpet and in major studio productions, their recent trip to Rome serves as a reminder of their shared passion for art and travel. From the earliest days of their collaboration to their current status as a Hollywood power couple, they continue to prioritize their family and their bond.
