Aaron Taylor-Johnson is back in the spotlight, but not for the reasons he might have hoped.

The actor, long rumored to be in the running for both the next James Bond and Batman, is facing renewed attention over old claims of on-set misconduct that have recently resurfaced online.

The controversy traces back to a 2020 social media post from Mexican actress Sandra Echeverría, who worked with Taylor-Johnson on the 2012 film Savages. In her post, Echeverría accused the British actor of going too far during a scene, saying he injured her while filming a violent sequence.

According to her, she was playing a kidnapping victim when Taylor-Johnson allegedly slammed her against a truck so hard that she was left bruised, shaken, and in pain.

Echeverría wrote that she “could not hold [herself] up” after the incident and described the moment as “painful and humiliating.” While her claims drew limited attention at the time, they’ve recently gained traction again among movie fans and industry insiders, sparking new discussions about the actor’s behavior early in his career.

Sources close to the production say Taylor-Johnson privately apologized to Echeverría during the Savages premiere, but he never made a public statement about it. Representatives for the actor have also declined to comment on the resurfaced accusations.

Some people who worked with Taylor-Johnson in his early years describe him as a talented but intense performer. One industry source told reporters, “It’s no secret Aaron was a little cocky when he was younger. He always had this physical energy that sometimes went too far.”

The timing of the controversy could not be worse for the 34-year-old actor. Reports earlier this year claimed he was offered the role of James Bond, following Daniel Craig’s departure from the franchise.

At the same time, new rumors suggest DC Studios head James Gunn is considering him for a rebooted Batman project after recently following him on social media.

One casting insider said the renewed backlash might affect his chances at either role, explaining, “If anything derails his shot at these franchises, it won’t be his acting—it’ll be public perception. These big projects depend on audiences liking the face of the brand.”

Despite the renewed attention, those close to Taylor-Johnson say he’s changed significantly since his early career days. Now married to filmmaker Sam Taylor-Johnson and a father of two, the actor has developed a quieter public image and become more selective about his work.

Aaron has matured a lot, another source shared. He knows what’s at stake now. It would be unfortunate if something from his early twenties defined him today.

Echeverría has not commented further on the issue, and there have been no reports of any official complaints or investigations related to the allegations.
