According To The Boys Showrunner, Homelander Could Defeat Superman, Here’s Why
Ever since the popular and satirical superhero show The Boys premiered on Prime Video, fans have been wondering who would be the last man standing between Superman and the show’s main villain Homelander, who is a parody of Last Son of Krypton.
The showrunner of the show Eric Kripke recently offered his answer, saying that Homelander has the advantage over Man of Steel because of his lack of morality. Do you agree? Is being a sociopath really the biggest weapon Homelander could use against Superman?
“I mean it’s definitely Homelander because Superman has morals and Homelander is like a hardcore sociopath. So, it’s like Homelander has no problem ripping off Superman’s testicles, like zero. And Superman’s gonna be like punching above the belt. So, it’s kind of not a contest.” — Eric Kripke for The Illuminerdi
The idea of Homelander vs Superman showdown has been debated among the fans for years now. Homelander actor Antony Starr also previously revealed (in a social media post that was deleted later) what he thinks about that idea.
“I can’t tell but I’m pretty sure Homelander and Superman are locked in mortal combat… oooooor… very aggressive and combative flirting.” — Anyony Starr
The Boys is a satirical and very violent take on the mainstream superhero genre. The show is following the titular group who’s trying to expose the superhero team known as the Seven as the supervillains, which they actually are, even though the Seven is enjoying the public support and they’re presented to the whole world as heroes and saviors.
The show premiered in July 2019, and the second season premiered in September 2020. The third season wrapped production in Fall 2021, and it’s set to premiere this year. The exact premiere date is still TBA.
