Get ready for a wild ride in the cyberpunk arenas of ‘Superball’, a game that mixes superhero flair with fast-paced sports action. Developed by Pathea Games, the team behind ‘My Time at Portia’ and ‘My Time at Sandrock’, this multiplayer title is back with a fresh demo launching today on Steam. I’m thrilled to dive into what makes this game a must-try for anyone who loves team-based chaos.

The demo, available starting April 23 at 6 PM CEST, runs for two weeks and brings a taste of the full game, set to launch as a free-to-play title on Steam in 2025. ‘Superball’ throws you into 3v3 matches where strategy and superpowered abilities collide. Think of it as a blend of the hero-driven action in ‘Marvel Rivals’ and the vehicular intensity of ‘Rocket League’, but with its own futuristic spin. Each match lasts seven minutes, packed with dynamic plays and endless ways to outsmart opponents.

What sets ‘Superball’ apart is its roster of 16 unique heroes, each with distinct abilities that can shift the game in an instant. For the first 72 hours after you sign up, all heroes are free to play, giving you a chance to test every character’s powers. After that, you can unlock more through gameplay—about five hours to earn enough in-game currency for a new hero—or grab them via the Rookie Path rewards. On day two, you get a Hero Voucher to pick any hero you want, which is a nice touch for new players.

Teamwork is at the heart of the game. Assisted passing mechanics make it easy to chain moves with teammates, rewarding clever coordination over solo showboating. Beyond the core 3v3 mode, ‘Superball’ spices things up with casual modes like Slam Dunk, Dodgeball, Icebreaker, and Divine Path. Completing missions in these modes earns extra rewards, adding variety to the experience.

The demo also comes with perks. Play to earn Lucky Cards, avatars, badges, and backgrounds that carry over to the full release. Watching streamers on Twitch during the demo unlocks Twitch Drops, like Hero Select Cards after 15 minutes, epic skins at 30 minutes, goal celebration effects at 60 minutes, and Supply Vouchers after 90 minutes. These drops are exclusive to the demo and won’t transfer to the launch version, so don’t miss out.

Pathea Games has poured a lot into refining ‘Superball’, previously known as ‘Super Buckyball Tournament’. The cyberpunk world, with its neon-lit stadiums, feels alive and immersive. A demo trailer dropping later this week will show off the chaos in action. Ivan Karadzhov, Sales & PR Manager at Pathea Games, shared that the team is excited to kick off this new chapter and can’t wait for players to jump in.

I’m already hooked on the idea of mastering these heroes and pulling off game-changing plays. With its mix of accessibility, depth, and rewards, ‘Superball’ is shaping up to be a blast. Head to Steam to check out the demo and join the action before it wraps up in two weeks.
