Adam Brody Breaks His Public Silence on Gaza Ahead of ‘Nobody Wants This’ Season 3

Adam Brody has become one of streaming’s most beloved leading men thanks to his role as Rabbi Noah Roklov, and his profile is only set to climb as the Netflix hit gears up for its return. Now, Adam Brody’s Gaza comments are drawing just as much attention as the show itself, marking a notable shift for an actor who has largely kept his politics out of the spotlight.

‘Nobody Wants This’, created by Erin Foster, follows the relationship between Brody’s Noah and Joanne, an agnostic podcaster played by Kristen Bell. The mixed-faith rom-com has earned Brody 2 Golden Globe nominations, along with a 2025 Emmy nomination and a Critics’ Choice Award for best comedy actor.

In a new interview with GQ focused on his political views, Brody addressed the Israel-Gaza war publicly for what appears to be the first time. The actor said he considers the war a genocide and declared his support for a free Palestine.

He added that it’s awful that it has taken so much death and misery, but said the situation feels like it is reaching a breaking point that should have come long ago. Brody also expressed hope that a future U.S. administration could do some good and change course.

Asked why he hadn’t addressed the issue before, Brody explained that the topic simply hadn’t come up in his recent interviews. He noted he has spoken about it extensively in private but rarely in public, and said nearly all red-carpet questions focus on ‘Nobody Wants This’.

The conversation also touched on whether Hollywood has become more conservative, which Brody agreed has happened in outspoken ways. He suggested that when one side holds more power, people are drawn toward it for very human reasons, including groupthink, personal well-being, money, and success.

Brody said the combination of COVID, a second Trump term, and the Israel-Gaza war revealed beliefs he had been unaware of and then felt disheartened by. The Jerusalem Post-affiliated outlet Ynet noted that the Jewish actor is one of relatively few Jewish celebrities to speak out publicly against Israel’s campaign in this way.

As with most statements on the conflict, the response has been sharply divided. Some social media users praised Brody for using his platform, while others questioned the timing, with one reply cynically suggesting the comments were tied to the upcoming season’s promotion.

Other responses were openly hostile, reflecting how polarizing the subject remains. Several outlets noted that Brody’s comments represent his personal view rather than a settled consensus, as the genocide characterization is strongly disputed by Israel and its supporters.

The interview arrived shortly after around 100 people, including several of Brody’s Hollywood peers, were arrested outside the United Nations General Assembly in New York while protesting the arrival of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Despite the attention, ‘Nobody Wants This’ itself isn’t expected to wade into the conflict. In a 2025 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Foster explained that telling positive Jewish stories remains important to her, while stressing that the series is not the place to tackle the conflict in Israel and Palestine.

Season 3 follows Noah and Joanne as they move in together and navigate a new stage of their relationship. Andrew Rannells, Keyla Monterroso Mejia, and Sarah Silverman join the cast in recurring roles.

All 10 episodes of the new season premiere on Netflix on October 22. It remains to be seen whether Brody’s remarks will affect how audiences receive the show, but they have clearly added a new dimension to its promotional run.
