Adam Sandler Explodes Over Wild TikTok About His Daughter: “100 Percent Insane”
Adam Sandler has spoken out to squash a bizarre story circulating online about him and his daughter Sadie. The viral TikTok claimed Sandler spent $312,000 on bags after a Beverly Hills store employee allegedly told Sadie she couldn’t touch certain items. The video quickly spread across social media, but Sandler insists it’s completely false.
Speaking with PEOPLE at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival on Thursday, the 59-year-old actor said, “By the way, there’s something on the internet talking about that dumb thing. I’ve been hearing about this thing and I saw it, and it’s just insane.”
He emphasized that the story has no basis in reality. “That story was 100 percent insane and made-up, and not a word of it is true,” he told USA Today.
Sandler, who shares daughters Sadie, 19, and Sunny, 17, with his wife Jackie, described the viral clip as “one of the weirdest, dumbest, 100% made up things. It was very odd.” He said even friends reached out to check if the story was real, highlighting how quickly false information can spread online. “I don’t know how that [expletive] happens,” he added.
While he was quick to deny the fabricated story, Sandler confirmed another viral anecdote: a New York Post report that he once ordered a bunch of Double-Doubles at In-N-Out Burger around midnight. “I have to say, that story is true. So that one’s true. The other one’s pathetic,” he joked.
The actor’s day at the festival was far from all drama. He received the Maltin Modern Master Award, which celebrates someone who has made a lasting impact on the film industry. During his acceptance speech, Sandler gave heartfelt thanks to his family. “Thank you for keeping me going all these years. I love you forever. I couldn’t do it without you,” he said, addressing his wife. He also expressed his love for his daughters:
“To my daughters, Sadie and Sunny, you guys are my world. I love you two like you’ll never know.”
Sandler’s comments highlight the strange power of social media rumors and how easily misinformation can spread, even about well-known figures. While fans may enjoy entertaining viral clips, it’s important to verify stories before accepting them as truth.
