AI YouTuber Gossip Goblin Is Taking His Sci-Fi Universe Straight to the Multiplex
The line between YouTube stardom and traditional Hollywood distribution keeps getting blurrier, and creators with massive built-in audiences are increasingly betting that their online fanbases will follow them into actual movie theaters. It is a gamble that has paid off before, and now another internet personality is stepping up to test whether that formula can work a second time.
That creator is Zack London, better known online as Gossip Goblin, whose YouTube channel has amassed 1.4 million subscribers with shorts that have drawn more than a billion views. Fable CEO Edward Saatchi has said London’s official audience across YouTube and Instagram exceeds 600 million views, a number that climbs to nearly a billion once reposts are counted. London has spent years building a distinctive, AI-driven science fiction universe online, and that world is now about to expand well beyond the platform that made him famous.
Makers of the sci-fi title confirmed that ‘Gods Don’t Give Gifts’ will open in several hundred movie theaters on October 30. The project is a collection of four anthology shorts and marks the latest release from Gossip Goblin. Fable, the AI studio behind the film, is backed by Amazon’s Alexa Fund and led by CEO Edward Saatchi. The team is reportedly working with an unnamed distributor and hopes to screen the film in cities including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago.
The anthology unfolds in a science fiction and horror tinged future where bodies can be upgraded, memories bought and sold, and consciousness transferred between forms. The story follows humanity’s attempts to overcome major limits like death and memory through technology, only to confront new questions about what it actually means to be human.
The film was made across two months with a team of ten artists working on it, and each of Gossip Goblin’s projects carries a distinct visual style that has become synonymous with his brand. London has said story and world building come first, treating AI as a production tool rather than the main attraction, and the project also uses human voice actors, musicians and Foley artists.
London and Fable are modeling the theatrical push on ‘Iron Lung,’ the film from fellow YouTuber Markiplier that ultimately grossed 51 million dollars on a three million dollar budget across more than 4,000 screens. It is a case study that has clearly caught the attention of creators looking to prove online fame can translate into box office numbers.
London does not seem worried about the risk. Speaking with Variety, he described the release as a personal milestone and a benchmark for what his team can accomplish, saying they have planted a flag in the ground by getting into theaters, and that even if the film is outright rejected, he does not expect anything close to backlash. Saatchi added that exhibitors have so far been extremely excited by the prospect of playing the film.
Whether AI-built storytelling can pull crowds away from their phones and into theater seats is still an open question, and ‘Gods Don’t Give Gifts’ may be one of the clearest tests yet. Would you buy a ticket to see Gossip Goblin’s fully AI-crafted anthology on the big screen this October?
