Alan Bergman Calls ‘Agatha All Along’ a Success, Boosting Disney’s Connection with Female Marvel Fans
‘Agatha All Along’ is the newest show in the MCU, standing out by focusing on magic and lesser-known characters.
Even though some fans expected negative reactions because of the show’s focus on diversity and inclusion, that didn’t happen. The show proved that as long as the story is good, these concerns don’t matter.
‘Agatha All Along’ received strong reviews, great viewership, and was the least expensive MCU production so far, thanks to its use of practical sets and effects. It also had the highest viewer retention rate of all MCU shows, which is a positive sign for its future.
Studio executives have often confirmed that the show was a success, and now Alan Bergman, Co-Chairman of Walt Disney Studios, has added that it also attracted many female fans. While Marvel movies have mostly appealed to men, ‘Agatha’ helped them connect with a bigger female audience.
“Agatha was certainly a big win for us, and widened out the audience that watches the Marvel titles. The movies have primarily been more male than female, and Agatha gave us an opportunity to try to hit the female audience more as well.”

The show had a great start, gaining 9.3 million views worldwide in its first week and becoming the most-watched show on Disney+ during that time. It also ranked in the top 10 in 56 countries and had the highest audience retention rate of any Marvel series. The show kept its strong viewership, with millions of minutes watched, and its finale reached 3.9 million views on its first day.
It also made it onto the Nielsen Top 10 charts twice, a feat even the popular show ‘The Penguin’ couldn’t achieve.
