Amazon has made a surprising change to the James Bond movies on Prime Video by removing guns from all the key art used for the films.

While the company may have wanted a clean, uniform look for the series, the edits have left some of Bond’s iconic poses looking awkward.

According to MI6 HQ, some posters were simply cropped so the gun is just out of frame, while others were digitally altered.

This has resulted in some strange images: in Dr. No, Bond’s arms now appear folded unnaturally, A View to a Kill stretches his arms, GoldenEye gives him a contemplative pose, and Spectre shows a clumsily shortened empty holster. The classic Bond logo remains unchanged.

Fans were quick to react on social media, and most were not happy with the changes. Many mocked the decision, pointing out the absurdity of removing guns from a fictional spy while real-life weapons exist everywhere.

Some posts specifically criticized the edited poses of Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig. “Hilarious how pictures are banned from carrying firearms but a person can in the middle of the street,” one user wrote. Another commented, “I don’t know which is worse – the iconic Pierce Brosnan Bond pose with a very conspicuously empty right hand, or the Daniel Craig Bond picture with a ludicrously empty holster.”

Other fans blamed Amazon leadership, comparing it to how they feel other franchises have been mishandled. “Bezos is gonna f**** up the franchise isn’t he? Just like how Disney spoiled Star Wars and caused Marvel to go woke,” one post read. “Why can’t we have the nice things?” another user added.

This change comes shortly after Amazon MGM Studios announced on February 20, 2025, that it had gained full creative control of the James Bond franchise from Eon Productions. This means that No Time to Die will be the last film produced under the guidance of Albert R. Broccoli, Michael G. Wilson, or Barbara Broccoli.

While a consistent look on Prime Video might seem like a good idea, removing guns from Bond’s posters changes the iconic imagery that fans love. Bond without a gun doesn’t feel like Bond, and the awkward edits only make it worse. It’s a small change, but for a character so tied to his signature weapon, it’s a noticeable one.

Do you think Amazon’s decision to remove guns from the Bond posters works, or does it ruin the classic look? Share your thoughts in the comments.
