Amazon Is Making a ‘Wolfenstein’ TV Show With the Team Behind ‘Fallout’
Amazon MGM Studios is working on a new TV show based on the Wolfenstein video games, according to Variety. The series is still in early development, and not much is known about the story yet. But there is an official logline for the show, and it keeps things simple: “The story of killing Nazis is evergreen.”
Patrick Somerville is leading the project as the creator, writer, executive producer, and showrunner. He’s working through his production company, chaoticgood.tv. Somerville has worked on shows like Station Eleven, Maniac, and The Leftovers, and he’s also written a few novels and short story collections. He’s been a fan of Wolfenstein since he was a kid, so this one’s personal for him.
The show also has some big names behind it. Jonah Nolan, Lisa Joy, and Athena Wickham will executive produce through Kilter Films, the same company behind the Fallout series on Prime Video. James Altman from Keyframe Films and Jerk Gustafsson from MachineGames, the studio that makes Wolfenstein, are also involved as executive producers.
This isn’t the first time someone has tried to bring Wolfenstein to the screen. Back in 2012, there was talk of a movie version. Samuel Hadida and Panorama Media were going to make it, and Roger Avary was supposed to write and direct. But it never got off the ground.
If this new series actually makes it to production, it’ll be the latest game adaptation from Kilter Films at Amazon. Fallout has been a huge hit and already has a second season coming in December, with a third one confirmed. Kilter is also working with Michael B. Jordan’s Outlier Society on a show based on Fourth Wing, and they’ve produced The Peripheral, Westworld, and Person of Interest in the past.
No release date has been announced yet for Wolfenstein, and there’s still a lot we don’t know. But with this team behind it, and a game as wild as Wolfenstein, it’s definitely something to watch. The news was first posted by Variety.
