Amazon Is Reportedly Making a ‘Killer Klowns from Outer Space’ Remake with Ryan Gosling as a Producer

A new project is in the works at Amazon MGM Studios, with Ryan Gosling stepping in as producer to revive a 1988 horror-comedy. The movie, Killer Klowns from Outer Space, is set to get a remake, sparking excitement (at least for me) among fans of the original.
The 1988 film, directed by Stephen Chiodo, follows a group of alien clowns who land on Earth with sinister plans. They invade a small California town, capturing humans to feed on their blood. Known for its wild mix of scares and laughs, the movie has built a loyal following over the years, earning a strong 79% rating on Rotten Tomatoes from 28 reviews.
Over time, there have been several attempts to revisit the story. The Chiodo Brothers, who created the original, once planned a sequel blending new ideas with the old, set for release in 2012.
That project, Return of the Killer Klowns from Outer Space in 3D, was meant to feature a returning character, Mike Tobacco, now a paranoid drunk fighting the clowns’ comeback alongside younger allies.
The plan later shifted to a possible TV series, with ideas for a four-part trilogy or a longer cable show, but none took off. A video game based on the film also launched last year, getting decent reviews as a survival horror title.
Details about Gosling’s version are scarce so far. No cast, director, or release date has been announced, but the news alone has stirred up buzz for a fresh take on the cult favorite.
What do you think about this reboot? Are you excited for Gosling’s vision, or should the clowns stay in the past? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
