Amber Midthunder Says She’s Ready for a ‘Prey’ Sequel & She Wants Dan Trachtenberg To Direct It

Amber Midthunder, who starred as Naru in the 2022 film Prey, has expressed her enthusiasm for a sequel, though she admits she’s not aware of any official plans yet.
In an interview, she said, “I don’t know. I don’t know what’s happening. I genuinely don’t. I also want to do another one. I would be happy to do another one. I love Dan Trachtenberg with my whole heart. I love that world, I love that character, and I think that there’s some fun ideas out there that I’ve heard that are very cool.”
Prey, directed by Dan Trachtenberg, was a fresh take on the Predator franchise, set in the early 1700s and focusing on a young Comanche warrior. The film received critical acclaim and was praised for its cultural authenticity and strong performances.
Despite its success, there’s been no official confirmation of a sequel. However, the film’s ending, which hints at further alien threats, has fueled speculation among fans.
Midthunder’s comments suggest a willingness to return to the role if given the opportunity. She has previously stated, “I’m ready. I loved that experience. I love that movie. And I would be happy to, you know, see where else we can take it.”

“Dan [Trachtenberg] is such a great director and, obviously, I think with what he created with Prey the first time, he can only be the one to be trusted with that again. I would love to do that.” pic.twitter.com/ytOdrhPY21
While there’s no official word on a sequel, the combination of the film’s success and Midthunder’s interest keeps the possibility alive. While we are waiting for any news on the sequel, fans can look forward to Predator: Killer of Killers, animated movie dropping on June 6, 2025, on Hulu and Disney+.
The movie, directed by Dan Trachtenberg and written by Micho Robert Rutare, is part of the Predator series. It was made by 20th Century Studios and Davis Entertainment. This is the sixth movie in the main series and the eighth overall.
The story follows three tough fighters from different times in history. One is a Viking warrior who’s helping her son get revenge. Another is a ninja from old Japan who fights his Samurai brother. The third is a pilot from World War II who tries to figure out a strange threat in the sky. Even though all of them are strong and deadly, they’re not the hunters — they’re the prey. A new, even more dangerous killer is after them.
