‘American Horror Story’ Is Officially Coming Back for Another Season at FX
Few TV franchises have managed to reinvent themselves as often as ‘American Horror Story’, and Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s anthology is proving it still has plenty of scares left. The series premiered on FX back in 2011 and has since become the network’s longest-running hourlong series by far.
Its current run has been a love letter to longtime fans. Season 13 premiered on September 24 and serves as a continuation of ‘Coven’, with Murphy even revealing that the production rebuilt the entire Robichaux Academy.
Now, FX has made it official: ‘American Horror Story’ has been renewed for Season 14. The announcement arrived just over a week before the Season 13 finale, which airs Thursday, October 29.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the pickup follows a strong ratings performance for the current season. The renewal will likely push the series past the 150-episode mark, extending its record at FX. For now, details remain under wraps. FX hasn’t revealed any casting, setting, or premiere date for the next installment.

The current season has leaned heavily on franchise favorites, and Murphy even compared it to ‘The Avengers’. Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe, and Leslie Grossman have all returned.
Lange’s comeback was especially notable. She had previously said she had no plans to return to the show, which made her casting a major surprise for fans. The returning roster runs deep. Frances Conroy, Jamie Brewer, John Carroll Lynch, Mena Suvari, and Mat Fraser are back, along with Seth Gabel, who crosses over from the spinoff ‘American Horror Stories’.

Season 13’s plot gives all those familiar faces a reason to reunite. The story follows characters from previous seasons as they try to save the world from the devil, who is close to winning a bet with God that he can survive in a human body for 100 years.
If Satan wins, he’ll rule over Earth, Heaven, and Hell. Joey Pollari plays a hospice care worker with a phobia of the number 13 who is tasked with caring for characters from earlier seasons, explaining the wave of returning stars.
The season also introduced several franchise newcomers. Avantika, Orlando Jones, Paul Anthony Kelly, Tig Notaro, Madelaine Petsch, Zach Villa, and filmmaker John Waters are among the fresh faces.

The numbers behind the show are impressive. According to FX, ‘American Horror Story’ has driven more than 2 billion hours of engagement since its first season. It has also been an awards powerhouse. Since 2011, the series has won 17 Primetime Emmy Awards from more than 100 nominations.
As of mid-October, 142 episodes had aired, with Season 13 set to wrap after 13 episodes. New episodes air Thursdays at 9/8c on FX and stream the next day on Hulu, with international viewers able to watch on Disney+.
Murphy clearly isn’t slowing down. At the start of the current season, he said he hopes to keep making the show forever, and he has also expressed interest in expanding the franchise internationally.

Created by Murphy and Falchuk, the series is produced by 20th Television. Season 13’s executive producers include Ned Martel, Charlie Carver, Jennifer Salt, and Tim Minear, among others. With the ‘Coven’ witches currently ruling the screen, fans will be eager to see which direction the next chapter takes.
