The story of Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man is known to every Marvel fan. After Sony scrapped the plans for Spider-Man 4 with Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield was cast to play the titular hero in Marc Webb’s reboot The Amazing Spider-Man, which was released in 2012. The sequel, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was released in 2014, but the movie didn’t meet the expectations in either critical or commercial way. That’s why the plans for the third installment were scrapped, and Sony decided to make a deal with Kevin Feige to add Spider-Man to the MCU, played by Tom Holland.

But, the latest MCU movie, Spider-Man: No Way Home, wasn’t just a conclusion for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man trilogy, it was also a big return for both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in their respective Spider-Man roles. Although Marvel Studios tried to keep their return a secret before the movie came out, their return was leaked and Garfield tried to deny his involvement, which was pretty unsuccessful. Following the movie’s premiere, the fans started a campaign on social media called #MakeTASM3, which was a call to Sony to give Garfield a third solo Spider-Man movie to complete his own trilogy.

Garfield was recently asked about the possibility of another movie with his Spider-Man, but Garfield dodged to give a clear answer, probably because even if he says that the movie won’t happen, no one will believe him after he tried to deny his involvement in No Way Home.

“No update from me. No one’s going to believe anything I say ever again. That’s my problem.” — Andrew Garfield for The Hollywood Reporter

Garfield was nominated this year for an Oscar in the category of Best Actor in a Leading Role for his role in Tick, Tick… Boom!, in which he played Jonathan Larson. He lost the award to Will Smith, who won the award for his role in King Richard. It’s not known if The Amazing Spider-Man 3 will ever happen. Would we like to see it happen? We definitely would. But we won’t get our hopes up before Sony officially announces it. We can only hope and wait for now.
