Andy Serkis has sparked new talk about the Marvel universe after suggesting that Kamala Khan, also known as Ms. Marvel, could appear in Avengers: Doomsday. The character is played by Iman Vellani and was last seen in The Marvels in 2023.

So far, Marvel has not included Vellani in the official cast list for Avengers: Doomsday. That has made Serkis’ comments even more noticeable, since they point in a different direction from what fans have been told publicly.

The moment happened during an interview with Cinemahub, where Serkis and Vellani were discussing their upcoming projects. The two are currently promoting the animated film Animal Farm, where both of them have voice roles.

During the chat, Vellani mentioned Serkis’ return as Gollum in the upcoming The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, which he is also directing. Serkis then responded by bringing up Avengers: Doomsday.

“I’m excited to see you in Doomsday!” Serkis said during the exchange. Vellani quickly reacted, saying, “No, you can’t say that!”

Serkis then tried to soften his words, adding, “Oh I can’t? Oh, well, if there should ever be the chance to see you in a film, like called Doomsday…” Vellani responded again, “If there is a chance, like Doomsday…” before shifting the conversation back to Animal Farm.

The exchange has led to speculation that Serkis may know more than what has been officially shared. It is also possible he simply misspoke, since both actors are working together on Animal Farm and may have discussed other projects off-camera.

Fans have already been expecting Ms. Marvel to return at some point in the MCU. In The Marvels, her story ended with hints that she could begin forming a new Young Avengers team. She even approached Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop about joining, along with Cassie Lang, who is played by Kathryn Newton.

Newton has already been confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday, which has added more fuel to theories that younger heroes may play a role in the film, even if only in smaller scenes.

Reports also suggest that some characters may film additional scenes after the main production has already wrapped. This has led fans to believe that certain appearances could still be added later, possibly setting up future Marvel projects like Avengers: Secret Wars or a Young Avengers-focused story.

In Animal Farm, Serkis voices Mr. Jones, while Vellani plays the piglets Puff and Tammy. The film also features a large voice cast including Seth Rogen, Glenn Close, Steve Buscemi, and Woody Harrelson.

For now, Ms. Marvel’s return remains unconfirmed by Marvel. But Serkis’ comments have clearly added more excitement and speculation around what Avengers: Doomsday might include.

What do you think about this? Do you believe Ms. Marvel is really coming back in Avengers: Doomsday, or was this just a slip? Share your thoughts in the comments.
