USA Network has been working to rebuild its lineup of original scripted shows, and one of its newest dramas has quickly become a standout. ‘Anna Pigeon’, a mystery series set in America’s national parks, premiered on August 7 and found an audience almost immediately.

Based on Nevada Barr’s New York Times best-selling novels, the show stars Tracy Spiridakos as Anna Pigeon, a former city dweller who becomes a park ranger after a devastating loss. As she tries to outrun her past, Anna ends up investigating crimes that take place inside national park grounds.

Now the series has secured its future. USA Network has renewed ‘Anna Pigeon’ for a second season, just 2 days before its Season 1 finale airs on Friday, October 9. The ratings made the decision easy. The premiere drew an average of 2.35 million total viewers within 7 days, making it USA Network’s highest-rated original scripted series premiere in nearly 8 years.

Across its first season, the show has reached 18 million total viewers, according to the network. USA also says it is the No. 1 new scripted drama on ad-supported cable in 2026.

“‘Anna Pigeon’ has connected with audiences in a meaningful way, bringing a compelling new heroine and a fresh perspective to USA Network,” Michael Sluchan, senior vice president of scripted content at Versant, said in a statement reported by Deadline.

Details about the next chapter are still limited. USA Network has not announced a premiere date, episode count, or story specifics, though it promises more mystery and adventure as Anna’s story continues.

It also hasn’t been confirmed whether Season 2 will adapt ‘A Superior Death’, the second novel in Barr’s series. Showrunner Morwyn Brebner said she was grateful to the cast and crew and eager to get back outside to film the next season.

Brebner, known for ‘Rookie Blue’, created the series and serves as showrunner. Lea Thompson directs and executive produces alongside Brebner and a team that includes Brett Burlock, Sonia Hosko and Tom Cox.

‘Anna Pigeon’ is produced by Cineflix and SEVEN24 Films for USA Network in association with Bell Media. It is Bell Media’s first co-commission with Versant’s USA Network and streams on Crave in Canada.

Spiridakos leads an ensemble that includes Paulina Alexis, Ronnie Rowe, Tricia Helfer, Kim Coates and Crystle Lightning. Cooper Levy, Manuel Rodriguez-Saenz, Ryan Northcott, Nikki Rae Hallow, Jordan Sledz and Melanie Scrofano also star.

USA Network hasn’t yet said which supporting cast members will return for the second season. Before Season 2 arrives, fans have one more episode to watch. The 10-episode first season concludes with “Hunting Season,” which brings Anna face to face with Coates’ Jeremiah Paulson in a long-awaited showdown.

The finale airs Friday at 10/9c on USA Network. With the renewal already confirmed, viewers can watch knowing Anna’s story will continue. ‘Anna Pigeon’ is one of only 2 scripted series currently airing on USA Network, alongside the John Grisham legal drama ‘The Rainmaker’, which is returning for a second season. The network has also ordered the medical drama ‘Diplomatic Immunity’.

For USA, the success of ‘Anna Pigeon’ is a strong sign that its scripted rebuild is working. A park ranger mystery has become one of cable’s most-watched new dramas this year.
