Anya Taylor-Joy Shocks Fans by Naming the Worst Role of Her Career
Anya Taylor-Joy recently sat down with Seth Meyers to talk about her career and her most famous roles.
During the interview, she looked back at her time on the hit show Peaky Blinders. She played Gina Gray, a very ambitious and mean character who caused a lot of trouble for the Shelby family. Taylor-Joy admitted that Gina is potentially the worst character she has ever played because she is so unlikable.
Even though the actress thinks Gina is a bad person, her own family feels differently. She mentioned that her relatives in Argentina are huge fans of the show and actually really like that character. She told Seth Meyers, I’m always impressed with which characters they gravitate to. In the show, Gina was the American wife of Michael Gray. She spent most of her time trying to take over the family business and move it to New York, which made her a major enemy to the main character, Tommy Shelby.
While she was talking about her past work, Taylor-Joy was actually there to promote a new project. She is returning as the voice of Princess Peach in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. That film is scheduled to come out in theaters on April 1, 2026. Fans of Peaky Blinders are also busy right now because a new sequel called Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man just arrived on Netflix. It features Cillian Murphy returning as Tommy Shelby and Barry Keoghan as his son.
It’s always interesting when an actor is honest about the characters they play. Sometimes the “villain” roles are the most fun to watch, even if the person playing them thinks they are terrible people. It shows how good Anya Taylor-Joy is at her job if she can make herself hate a character that she portrayed so well. Plus, it is funny that her family likes the meanest character the most.
