The Venice Beach boardwalk got a serious dose of glamour this week as Veuve Clicquot opened the doors to Club Solaire, its new beachside hangout. The VIP opening night on Thursday drew a stylish crowd, and Charlize Theron was among the stars who came out to celebrate.

For the occasion, the Champagne house transformed 619 Ocean Front Walk into a 2-story space for a 3-day activation, complete with long communal tables dressed in flowers and candles, sculptural pendant lights and plenty of the brand’s signature yellow. It’s the latest Solaire concept in Los Angeles, following the 2022 Solaire Culture Exhibition on Rodeo Drive, which marked Veuve Clicquot’s 250th anniversary.

Theron made one of the night’s most talked-about style statements, opting for a relaxed yet polished all-white look. The 51-year-old actress wore an oversized ivory Hermès knit with a long cream skirt and white Bottega Veneta lace-up shoes, pairing it all with a blue Hermès Cargo Birkin.

The outfit works because of its clever balance. The chunky ribbed sweater, with its relaxed shoulders, ends around the upper hip, while the skirt falls in soft tiers with sheer sections near the hem, so the contrast between the heavy knit and lighter fabric is really what makes the look.

Theron finished the ensemble with a stack of silver bracelets and wore her short blonde hair swept back, with a few loose waves framing her face. Small stud earrings kept the beauty styling understated, while the navy bag was the only major dark element in the look.

The result was the kind of casual-cool outfit that felt perfectly suited to a sunset party by the ocean. It also fit right in with the evening’s palette, as several guests, including Theron, Grace Van Patten and True Whitaker, went for beachy whites and creams.

The actress seemed genuinely happy to be there. “I love having a reason to come down to Venice because I don’t do it myself enough,” Theron told WWD at the cocktail party overlooking the boardwalk.

She also reflected on the bigger meaning behind the evening. “Anything that encourages and celebrates getting community together right now is important, and I think that’s really what tonight is about,” Theron continued, adding that the world needs more of it.

That spirit fits the brand’s own messaging. Veuve Clicquot President Thomas Mulliez said that bringing people together in a spirit of joy has always been central to the Veuve Clicquot story, and Club Solaire is running over the first weekend of October with 6 intimate, ticketed experiences built around that idea.

Music was a big part of the night’s charm. Este Haim provided the soundtrack, spinning a patchwork DJ set of throwbacks and hits as the sun went down, with her parents among the crowd.

Theron and Haim posed for photos together in front of the DJ booth and even shared a hug. It was one of those easy, feel-good moments that captured the laid-back vibe the party was going for.

Theron was far from the only familiar face in the room. Christina Hendricks, Arden Cho, Ashley Madekwe, Caroline Chikezie, Nadine Bhabha, Paris Brosnan and Drew Ray Tanner were also among the guests celebrating the opening.

For some attendees, the night was a first. ‘Tell Me Lies’ star Grace Van Patten told Flaunt that it was “actually my first event with Veuve,” adding that she was excited to learn more that evening.

Between the ocean views, the Champagne and a crowd full of familiar faces, Club Solaire got off to a stylish start. And with her effortless take on monochrome dressing, Theron proved once again that sometimes the simplest looks make the biggest impression.
