‘Apocalypto’ Actor Taken Into Custody Following Felony Drug Arrest
Rudy Youngblood, the actor who gained international fame as the star of Mel Gibson’s Apocalypto, was taken into custody in Texas this Thursday. The arrest occurred in Henderson County after police pulled the actor over for speeding. When officers ran his license, they discovered an active felony warrant for his arrest originating from Bell County.
The warrant was issued following a forensic investigation into an incident that took place at a boat ramp this past October. During that initial encounter, Youngblood was detained on a separate warrant related to an alleged assault on a household member. During the search, authorities reportedly found a bag containing a suspicious substance along with a scale, a glass pipe, and a straw.
While Youngblood was initially released after the October encounter, the suspected drugs were sent to a laboratory for professional testing. Court documents recently confirmed that the substance was methamphetamine. This confirmation led to the official filing of a felony drug charge on Wednesday, just one day before his latest traffic stop.
Brownsboro Chief of Police Scott Myntti stated that the actor was cooperative during the traffic stop and was booked into the Henderson County jail without incident. He is currently facing a charge for possession of a controlled substance in an amount between one and four grams. If convicted of this felony, Youngblood could face a prison sentence of up to two years and a fine reaching $10,000.
This latest legal trouble adds to a growing list of run-ins with the law for the actor. In addition to the assault allegations from late 2025, Youngblood was previously arrested in Miami in 2017 for disorderly intoxication, though those charges were eventually dismissed. As of Friday morning, he remains behind bars in Henderson County.
Rudy Youngblood is a Native American actor of Comanche and Yaqui descent who rose to prominence in 2006 for his portrayal of Jaguar Paw. His performance in the Maya-language epic Apocalypto earned him critical acclaim and several industry awards. Since then, he has worked consistently in independent film and television, often appearing in projects that highlight indigenous stories.
In recent years, Youngblood has remained active in the horror and drama genres. He appeared in the 2021 film Dandelion Season and the 2023 supernatural thriller The Haunting of Hell Hole Mine. Despite his personal struggles, he has continued to find work in the industry, maintaining a dedicated following among fans of his breakout role.
Youngblood’s career has been marked by high-profile peaks and difficult personal valleys. While he remains a recognizable face due to the enduring popularity of Apocalypto, his repeated legal issues have frequently overshadowed his professional accomplishments. Fans of the actor have often expressed hope for his recovery and a return to the mainstream spotlight.
