The final trailer for Wicked: For Good has arrived, and it shows that peace in Oz is over. The new footage highlights growing tensions between Elphaba, played by Cynthia Erivo, and Glinda, played by Ariana Grande. What once looked like friendship now looks more like a showdown.

In one dramatic scene, Glinda slams her wand against Elphaba’s broom during a heated argument. “I’m a public figure now, people expect me to…” Glinda begins, only for Elphaba to cut her off with “Fly?” Glinda snaps back, finishing with “Be encouraging!”

The trailer gives a first listen to songs from the stage show, including Glinda’s “Thank Goodness” and Elphaba’s “No Good Deed.”

There’s also a wedding sequence between Glinda and Jonathan Bailey’s Fiyero, which quickly falls apart as chaos spreads across Oz. Michelle Yeoh, as Madame Morrible, puts the blame squarely on Elphaba, declaring, “This is the work of the Wicked Witch!”

Not everything in the preview is dark. There are glimpses of Elphaba and Fiyero sharing their romantic song “As Long as You’re Mine,” and moments of Glinda showing off her signature flair, like when she receives her magical bubble and excitedly shouts, “I’m obsess-u-lated!”

Fans also get to see Glinda and Elphaba sharing a dance with the Wizard, played by Jeff Goldblum.

The trailer teases familiar faces from Oz too. Quick shots reveal the Cowardly Lion, the Tin Man, and even the Scarecrow before he joins Dorothy on her famous adventure. A striking moment shows Elphaba’s sister Nessa Rose, played by Marissa Bode, rising into the air as her shoes transform into the ruby slippers.

Wicked: For Good is directed by Jon M. Chu and written by Winnie Holzman and Dana Fox. It continues the story from the 2024 film Wicked, adapting the second half of the Broadway musical.

The movie takes place after the events of the first film. Elphaba, now known across Oz as the Wicked Witch of the West, lives as a fugitive while still fighting for animal rights. Glinda has become Glinda the Good, a public figure under the influence of the Wizard and Madame Morrible. Their bond is tested further when Dorothy Gale arrives from Kansas, sparking events that will reshape Oz.

Universal Pictures has been working on bringing Wicked to the screen for years. Development began in 2012, and after many delays—including the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2023 Hollywood strikes—the two-part film finally wrapped production in early 2024. Wicked: For Good will be released in theaters on November 21.
