Ariana Grande has announced that her upcoming Eternal Sunshine arena tour next year will be her last for a long time. Speaking on the Good Hang with Amy Poehler podcast, the 32-year-old singer said the tour is “like one last hurrah” before she steps back from international touring.

Ariana explained that her pop career has taken over much of her life, and she’s now trying to focus on other passions. “I’m very excited to do this small tour. But I think it might not happen again for a long, long, long, long time,” she said. “I’m going to give it my all, and it’s going to be beautiful, and I’m so grateful. I think that’s why I’m doing it. Because I’m like, one last hurrah. For now.”

The singer, who released her hit album Eternal Sunshine in March 2024, will be performing across the US and Canada next summer before heading to London for 10 nights at the O2 Arena. She said the decision to step back from touring comes from realizing how much her pop career consumed her life. “For me, when I came into all of this, and my pop career sort of took over my life in a way, I didn’t have that at all,” Ariana said.

She also shared that she’s exploring other creative projects, including acting. “I just am feeling a lot more connected to myself and my art since I started doing different things,” she said. Ariana pointed out that she grew up loving musical theatre and comedy, not just pop music.

“I spent so much time only doing pop music, but I grew up as a girl who loved musical theatre and comedy, so I think the thing that will be best for my soul and for my art is chasing things that feel very right in the moment, even if it’s spontaneous and something different,” she explained.

Ariana has recently taken on big acting roles, including playing Glinda in the Hollywood adaptation of Wicked with Cynthia Erivo and Jonathan Bailey.

She’s also filming Fockers In-Law, the next movie in the Meet the Parents series, alongside Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro. “It’s a role that I read the script [for] and I love it and it’s funny and I love the cast and I’m so excited,” she said.

“And then I’m going to do a small stint of shows next year because that is something that authentically sounded good to me. And then from there, there are other things that are different, and I think following those authentic impulses feels like a really good idea, like a good thing.”

Ariana first became famous as a teenager on Nickelodeon, playing Cat Valentine in Victorious and later in Sam & Cat. She went on to become one of the biggest pop stars in the world, with seven studio albums, seven UK No.1 singles, multiple streaming records, and two Grammy Awards.
