Ariana Greenblatt Reveals the Iconic DC Character She Wants to Play
Ariana Greenblatt is making headlines again, this time for revealing which DC character she’d love to play one day. While promoting her upcoming movie Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, the young actress sat down with co-star Justice Smith to talk about their dream roles in the DC Universe.
When asked which DC character she’d want to bring to life, Greenblatt didn’t hesitate. “I would love to play Catwoman. I would love to,” she said with excitement. Her co-star Justice Smith joined in, adding, “There’s a superhero that I’ve always wanted to be. I always wanted to be Beast Boy from Teen Titans.”
Greenblatt’s choice instantly caught fans’ attention. Many could picture her as a fresh and bold take on Selina Kyle, but it might be a while before such a casting could happen. The DC Universe, currently being reshaped under the direction of James Gunn and Peter Safran, is just beginning to establish its new lineup of heroes.
One of the biggest upcoming DCU films is The Brave and the Bold, which will introduce a new version of Batman and his son Damian Wayne, who becomes Robin.
James Gunn has described the film as “a strange father and son story,” exploring their complex relationship. The movie is based on Grant Morrison’s comic run that redefined Batman’s dynamic with his son.
Andy Muschietti, who directed The Flash, was selected to direct The Brave and the Bold, while his sister Barbara Muschietti is set to produce alongside Gunn and Safran. Development of the film slowed down late last year due to scheduling issues and to avoid overlapping with Matt Reeves’ The Batman: Part II, which continues separately from the main DCU under the Elseworlds label.
As of now, a writer is already working closely with Gunn on the film’s script, and Muschietti is expected to return once the screenplay is finished.
For now, Ariana Greenblatt’s dream of becoming Catwoman might just stay a wish—but her growing career and energy make her an exciting name to watch for future superhero projects.
