‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Gets a Surprise New Poster
‘Avengers: Doomsday’ marketing has already given Marvel fans plenty to talk about, but the latest piece of promo art showed up somewhere nobody expected. Instead of arriving through Marvel Studios, a theater ad, or a major entertainment magazine, the new artwork appeared on a Ravensburger jigsaw puzzle listing.
That might sound like a small detail, but the image gives fans another look at the huge cast coming together for the next Avengers movie. As soon as the artwork surfaced online, fans started looking closely at every character and wondering if the picture could contain clues about what Marvel has planned for the film.
Doctor Doom once again takes the most important spot in the image. Robert Downey Jr.’s villain stands at the center while several major heroes surround him. Captain America, Thor, Cyclops, Sue Storm, The Thing, Black Panther, and other familiar faces can all be seen in the artwork. The lineup makes one thing very clear: this movie is going to be packed.
The poster also shows just how wide the story of ‘Doomsday’ has become. Marvel isn’t only bringing back its current Avengers lineup. The Fantastic Four and characters from the older X-Men movies are also part of the story. That includes major names such as Professor X, Magneto, Beast, and Nightcrawler, giving the movie a mix of different Marvel eras.
The new puzzle artwork was spotted through Ravensburger, which is the source of the latest image. While the picture itself does not reveal a major plot twist, fans are already treating every new piece of official-looking artwork like a potential clue. With a movie this secretive, even small details can lead to weeks of theories.
One of the biggest questions remains what Doctor Doom actually wants. Previous promotional material has shown Doom making the strange claim that the Avengers have been “living stolen lives.” That line has only added fuel to theories about alternate realities, the multiverse, and how the events of previous Marvel projects could connect to the new movie.
There is also plenty of interest in Loki’s role. The character is confirmed to be part of the cast, and fans have been trying to work out whether the Time Variance Authority or other multiverse elements could play a role in Doom’s plans. None of those theories have been confirmed, but Marvel has clearly given viewers plenty of material to analyze.
Director Joe Russo has also spoken about the difficult balance between promoting a huge movie and keeping its biggest surprises secret. With so many posters, trailers, toys, interviews, and other products being released, keeping major story details hidden is becoming harder. Still, Marvel has managed to keep many important parts of the plot under wraps.
The excitement is already showing at the box office. According to figures previously announced by Disney, ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ passed $50 million in domestic presales months before its December release. More than 70% of those advance sales were for the premium Infinity Vision format, showing that many fans want to see the massive crossover on the biggest screen possible.
Marvel’s Disney+ numbers also point to strong interest. Disney reported that Marvel Studios titles collected more than 420 million hours of viewing during August, its biggest monthly total for Marvel content on the service. More than 200 million of those hours were linked to increased interest surrounding ‘Doomsday.’
For now, the new Ravensburger puzzle may be more promotional material than a hidden message. But with Doctor Doom standing at the center of such a massive lineup, it’s easy to understand why fans are studying every detail. ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ arrives in theaters on December 18, and with ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ coming in 2027, Marvel is clearly preparing for one of its biggest stories yet.
