‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Trailer Could Finally Drop Tomorrow as the Russo Brothers Tease a Major SXSW London Surprise

The road to one of Marvel’s most anticipated event films has been paved with cryptic green imagery, Latverian symbolism, and a fanbase collectively holding its breath. After months of carefully orchestrated teases, the marketing campaign for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ appears to be shifting into a higher gear, and today may be the day everything changes.

Marvel’s previous teasers for the film generated a combined one billion views online, and the studio has been deliberate about controlling when and how the full picture comes into focus. The film is set to hit theaters on December 18, 2026, and is already considered a strong contender to be the top-grossing film of the year. With that kind of commercial gravity behind it, every new signal from the directors carries enormous weight.

According to DiscussingFilm, the Russo Brothers have now confirmed that something significant is planned at SXSW London on June 2, describing it simply as a “Surprise at 2pm.” The timing is far from coincidental. That 2 PM BST window aligns directly with 9 AM ET in the United States, which is precisely when Disney tends to release major new trailers in order to dominate the cultural conversation for the rest of the day.

In the days leading up to the announcement, the Russo Brothers posted a striking image featuring what appears to be Doctor Doom’s mask surrounded by a red circle, accompanied by the hashtag #DomLatveria and a London address. The Instagram post quickly blew up, racking up nearly 95,000 likes in around eleven hours, with fans flooding the comments searching for clues. Joe and Anthony Russo are also scheduled to appear at a special ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ screening at SXSW London on June 2, an event that AGBO teased with the caption, “Mr. Stark, we don’t feel so good about how excited we are.”

The screening will include an extended intro from the Russo Brothers and other special guests, which has led to speculation that Robert Downey Jr. himself could make an appearance at the festival. Downey’s return as Doctor Doom was not fully revealed in any of the prior teasers, though he briefly appeared as the character in ‘Fantastic Four: First Steps’ without his face being shown. His full reveal in the CinemaCon footage sent shockwaves through the industry, and a publicly available trailer would bring that moment to the rest of the world.

The Russo Brothers previously told Empire Magazine that ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ reaches a “new level” of complexity and difficulty at the narrative level compared to anything they have made before. The film features a sprawling ensemble that includes Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Pedro Pascal, Ian McKellen, Letitia Wright, Tom Hiddleston, and many more heroes drawn from across the Avengers and X-Men corners of the MCU.

Speculation that Marvel is ready to release the first public trailer during the SXSW London festival has grown significantly, with the Russos having also tagged the Avengers account, Marvel Studios, and Robert Downey Jr. in their series of teases. Whether the surprise turns out to be a full trailer, an exclusive clip, or something else entirely remains to be seen, but the fandom is watching the clock.

If today really is the day ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ finally gets its public-facing trailer, what do you most want to see in it?
