With less than 2 months until ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ arrives, Marvel Studios has officially kicked its marketing machine into high gear. The film is scheduled for release on December 18, 2026, with its sequel, ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’, set for December 17, 2027. Directed by the Russo brothers, it brings together heroes from 3 different universes amid the collapse of the multiverse.

One of those worlds is home to Marvel’s First Family. ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ introduced a retro-futuristic alternate universe heavily influenced by 1960s aesthetics, a reality where the Avengers never existed. Its designation is a nod to the birthday of Jack Kirby, August 28, who co-created the team alongside Stan Lee.

Now, Marvel has dropped a brand-new teaser for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, and it starts somewhere fans might not have expected. The spot debuted during Game 1 of the World Series and opens in the Fantastic Four’s universe, Earth-828, where Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards throws the first pitch at Ebbets Field.

The crossover leans into the time period of ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’, showing New York Giants players in the background while modern MLB stars Freddie Freeman, Jacob Misiorowski, Bryce Harper, Randy Arozarena and Junior Caminero watch from the sidelines. Johnny Storm steps up to bat, and The Thing is also on hand for the festivities.

The lighthearted moment doesn’t last long. The tease is interrupted when Doctor Doom attacks from the sky, triggering a sequence of movie clips. Some fans believe these scenes take place when Doom arrives at the Baxter Building and confronts Sue Storm.

Beyond the ballpark, the teaser offers fresh glimpses of Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers and Chris Hemsworth’s Thor. There’s a quick exchange between the two about hammer envy, alongside a comedic scene in Avengers Tower where Ant-Man can’t decide whether to call Steve Rogers or Sam Wilson “Cap.”

The footage also includes a new shot of Sam Wilson’s Avengers team, a hint of the returning X-Men and the Wakandans. Baseball fans got their own Easter egg, too, with the teaser implying that the Dodgers never left Brooklyn in the Fantastic Four’s alternate reality.

The choice to open in that particular universe carries extra weight. Footage shown at San Diego Comic-Con confirmed that Doctor Doom originates from Earth-828 rather than the main MCU timeline, establishing a direct connection to the Fantastic Four’s home reality.

That ties neatly into how ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ wrapped up. A title card at the end of that film promised the team would return in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, setting up their journey into the wider MCU.

The reaction hasn’t been universally glowing. Social media was filled with countdowns and guesses ahead of the heavily promoted Game 1 reveal, and some viewers felt the spot offered little new information about the movie beyond a few brief clips.

Others took a more patient view. A final trailer still feels inevitable, and some outlets felt the World Series turned out to be the perfect venue for this kind of playful preview. With the release date fast approaching, Marvel certainly doesn’t need to give away the entire movie.
