‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ Will Reportedly Spotlight The Heroes Doomsday Left Behind

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is barreling toward its biggest crossover event yet, and fans have spent the past year trying to piece together exactly who will lead the charge. ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is scheduled for release on December 18, 2026, with ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ following on December 17, 2027, both landing as part of Phase Six of the MCU. With more than sixty actors reportedly attached across the two films, the question of who actually gets meaningful screen time has become one of the most debated topics in superhero fandom.

That debate got a fresh jolt after Marvel-focused fan account Cosmic Marvel shared a new report on X, citing scoopers Daniel Richtman and Cryptic4KQual. According to the post, ‘Avengers Secret Wars’ will reportedly shift its attention toward younger characters and heroes who did not get much spotlight in ‘Avengers Doomsday,’ with new mutants also expected to join the fold.

The claim tracks with earlier reporting on the franchise’s shifting focus. Scooper Daniel Richtman previously reported in a Patreon post that ‘Secret Wars’ will focus on characters who did not have a major role in ‘Doomsday’, suggesting the Fantastic Four, New Avengers, and X-Men will take a backseat to whatever happens in the 2027 sequel. Multiple scoopers have claimed the film will be primarily led by Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, who are only expected to appear in the opening scene of Doomsday.

The idea that ‘Secret Wars’ will skew younger is not coming out of nowhere either. During a fan Q&A, cosmic circus insider Alex Perez was asked whether the film would adapt the surviving heroes from the 2015 comic run, which included Star Lord, Thor, Reed Richards, and Black Panther. His response hinted at a generational shift, saying the characters would be much younger than fans might expect.

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ itself is already leaning into this trend by giving weight to characters barely out of childhood. Franklin Richards, the infant son of Reed Richards and Sue Storm, was introduced in ‘The Fantastic Four First Steps’ as a figure of immense cosmic power that caught the attention of Doctor Doom. Love, Thor’s adopted daughter introduced in ‘Thor Love and Thunder,’ has also been confirmed to play a central role in the film. If Doomsday is already planting these seeds, a Secret Wars sequel that leans further into younger heroes and mutant newcomers would feel like a natural continuation rather than a swerve.

There is also long-standing chatter that the Young Avengers, sometimes referred to as the Champions, could factor into both films as a setup for their own future series, though Marvel Studios has not confirmed those characters for either project. Whether that team folds into this new younger-skewing direction remains to be seen, but it would fit neatly with what insiders are now describing.

None of this has been confirmed by Marvel Studios, and scoopers have been wrong before, but the pattern across multiple sources is becoming difficult to ignore. With ‘Avengers Doomsday’ arriving first and already reshuffling who gets to be the emotional center of the story, ‘Secret Wars’ picking up the characters left in the shadows would mark one of the boldest structural choices the franchise has made since ‘Endgame.’
