It has been a surprisingly quiet stretch for one of Hollywood’s busiest leading ladies. Ana de Armas hasn’t had a new acting credit in 2026, with her most recent role coming in 2025’s ‘Ballerina’. That makes every new Ana de Armas photo a small event for fans eager for signs of what’s next.

The Cuban-Spanish star, 38, is known for films like ‘Knock Knock’, ‘Knives Out’, and ‘Blonde’, the latter of which earned her an Academy Award nomination. She has also kept a relatively low profile on social media lately, with her previous post before her latest update coming on Wednesday, September 9.

On October 1, the actress shared new photos of herself, and the images lean into a relaxed, everyday vibe. While she has been away from screens, her schedule is anything but empty. De Armas is set to return to both film and television with a slew of upcoming projects, though none currently have confirmed release dates.

One of the most intriguing is ‘Sweat’, a psychological thriller from J Blakeson, the director of ‘I Care a Lot’. De Armas plays Emma Kent, a fitness influencer who dreams of matching the success of her idol, social media star Kat Highbrook. When an encounter with Kat goes horribly wrong, Emma is pushed into a dangerous arrangement with an obsessive fan.

The project is based on Magnus von Horn’s Polish film of the same name, which was in official selection at the 2020 Cannes Film Festival. AGC Studios has come aboard to finance and co-produce.

Television is also in the cards. De Armas will star with Jennifer Connelly in Apple TV+’s ‘Safe Houses’, a drama series from showrunner Gideon Raff based on Dan Fesperman’s novel. She plays Sofia Jiménez, a fugitive agent who investigates a murder from the opposite side of Connelly’s ambassador character, uncovering a conspiracy that could upend the global balance of power.

She is also attached to ‘Bananas’, another Apple TV+ drama series co-starring Oscar Isaac. On the film side, she will appear opposite Tom Cruise in Doug Liman’s sci-fi horror movie ‘Deeper’, and alongside Sebastian Stan in Felipe Gálvez’s espionage thriller ‘Impunity’, which is set against the 1998 arrest of Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet in London.

There’s also ‘Reenactment’, a thriller from Grant Singer, the director of Netflix hit ‘Reptile’. De Armas was reported to be in final talks to join a cast that includes Cameron Diaz and Benicio del Toro, with the project reportedly now in post-production.

Taken together, the upcoming slate suggests a major return for the actress once these projects begin rolling out. Between prestige television, genre thrillers, and a reunion with a blockbuster star like Cruise, she appears to be setting up one of the most varied stretches of her career. For now, these casual selfies offer a calm-before-the-storm moment. Fans will likely be watching her social media closely for any hints about which project arrives first.
