The legend has returned! Ever since we learned that Michael Keaton will reprise the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman in the upcoming Batgirl film, the scale of anticipation has rapidly grown. The Batgirl film is currently in production and it’s set to debut exclusively on HBOMax by the end of this year.

DC is still trying to bring DC Extended Universe back on track, and their biggest hope right now is three anticipated movies — Black Adam, The Flash, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. As you probably already knew, The Batman is also highly anticipated, but it isn’t part of the DCEU. The Flash movie is set to reshape the DCEU as we know it and put the timeline back in place (or mess it up even more).

One of the biggest announcements regarding The Flash movie was that both Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck will reprise their respective Batman roles. The movie is set to bring Affleck’s Batman to closure, but open the way for Keaton to continue his path as Batman. The Flash movie already wrapped production, and Keaton is currently filming his parts for the Batgirl movie, in which Leslie Grace will play the titular role, and JK Simmons will reprise the role of DCEU’s Commissioner Gordon.

How Many Times Did Michael Keaton Play Batman?

Although we knew that Keaton will appear in the Batgirl movie, it’s so great to see him in the suit again because some fans expected that Keaton will only appear as older Wayne who will be like a mentor to the titular character, but now we know that won’t be the case. Keaton will suit up in both The Flash and Batgirl. Considering the timeline, it’s unlikely that Batgirl will be released before the Flash, and since DC has set the film to release this year, we can expect Batgirl to arrive on HBOMax in late November or December this year. Unless the movie gets delayed of course.

Directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (known for Bad Boys for Life), Batgirl is starring Leslie Grace, J. K. Simmons, Michael Keaton, and Brendan Fraser, who is set to play the main villain — Firefly!
