David Chokachi is making it clear that age is just a number as he prepares to return to the sands of Malibu. The 58-year-old actor was spotted enjoying a morning on the water this past Sunday, March 22. He showcased a remarkably fit physique while navigating the waves on a paddleboard, proving he is more than ready for his upcoming television return.

The sighting comes as anticipation builds for the highly publicized Fox reboot of the classic lifeguard drama, Baywatch. While Chokachi has not yet been seen filming on the official set, his impressive physical condition suggests he has been training hard for the role.

He will once again step into the role of Cody Madison, a character he first made famous nearly three decades ago. In the new series, Cody’s life has evolved alongside the actors’, though he remains a central figure in the lifeguard community.

According to a character breakdown from The Hollywood Reporter, he is now a business owner as well as a veteran lifesaver. “Cody runs The Shoreline, the unofficially official Baywatch bar-and-grill, and still puts on the red trunks for the occasional shift saving lives,” the description revealed.

The report also noted that his character serves as a father figure and a reliable anchor for the younger generation of guards. “He’s a mentor to and a friend, providing a second home for his fellow lifeguards… and always offering free wings after a big save,” the outlet added.

This new dynamic promises to bring a sense of nostalgia while anchoring the fresh storylines of the rebooted franchise. Beyond his return to the beach, Chokachi has maintained a steady presence in the action and independent film scenes over the last few years.

The actor has also been busy appearing at various fan conventions to celebrate the legacy of the original Baywatch series. During a panel in January, he expressed excitement about the reboot’s focus on more realistic water rescues and character-driven drama.

He has frequently shared his fitness journey on social media, encouraging his followers to stay active through surfing and outdoor sports regardless of their age. As for the Baywatch reboot itself, the show is shaping up to be one of the biggest television events of the 2026-2027 season.

The series is being produced by Fremantle and features a diverse ensemble of new faces alongside returning legacy stars. While specific plot details are being kept under wraps, the production has moved its primary filming location from Hawaii back to the iconic shores of Southern California.

With the first season of the reboot expected to premiere in September, fans won’t have to wait much longer to see the red trunks back in action. The actor’s recent shirtless display in Malibu serves as a perfect teaser for what’s to come on the small screen. It is clear that Cody Madison hasn’t lost his step and is ready to mentor the next wave of heroes.
