‘Baywatch’ Reboot Turns up the Heat With New Teasers Pairing Stephen Amell, Livvy Dunne and More

Few TV franchises are as instantly recognizable as ‘Baywatch’, and Fox is betting big that the red swimsuits and slow-motion beach runs still have plenty of pull. The lifeguard drama originally ran for 11 seasons starting in 1989, with an ensemble that included David Hasselhoff, Pamela Anderson, Carmen Electra and Jason Momoa, and the ‘Baywatch’ reboot is now gearing up for its big return.

The road back to the beach has been a long one. Fremantle began exploring a revival as early as 2018, Fox came aboard in 2024 with a script plus penalty commitment, and the network later handed the project a 12-episode straight-to-series order before moving its premiere from fall 2026 to January 2027.

Now the promotional push is officially heating up. On October 2, Fox released 4 new teaser promos for the series, each built around a pair of stars: Stephen Amell and Jessica Belkin, Hassie Harrison and Noah Beck, Shay Mitchell and Brooks Nader, and Livvy Dunne and Thaddeus LaGrone.

The teasers offer fans a closer look at the new ensemble in their lifeguard roles. Each one also reminds viewers that the series is set to premiere on Fox this January, with episodes streaming on Hulu the next day.

Amell leads the cast as Hobie Buchannon, the wild child from the original series who has grown up to become a Baywatch Captain, following in the footsteps of his legendary father Mitch. Hobie’s world is turned upside down when Charlie, played by Belkin, the daughter he never knew, shows up on his doorstep, eager to carry on the Buchannon family legacy and become a lifeguard alongside him.

The rest of the main cast includes Mitchell as Trina, Harrison as Nat, LaGrone as Brad, Beck as Luke, and Nader as Selene. Nader’s character has been described as a rival Zuma Beach lifeguard and Hobie’s adversary.

The reboot isn’t leaving its roots behind. Original series star David Chokachi returns as Cody Madison in a heavily recurring role, while fellow original cast member Erika Eleniak is also part of the lineup.

Dunne is making her professional acting debut as Grace, a junior lifeguard, in a guest-starring role. Mary McDonnell and John Beckwith also appear in recurring roles as Gayle and Julian.

The casting has drawn attention for leaning heavily on well-known social media personalities. Alongside Amell, the revival features Nader, Beck, and Dunne, a mix that clearly aims to bring in a younger audience.

This isn’t the first glimpse fans have gotten. Back in May, Amell shared a 10-second teaser on Instagram that featured slow-motion running, the iconic red swimsuits, and a January release window.

A later 15-second clip showed more of the cast in action, including Amell and Belkin sprinting down the sand and Mitchell jumping down from the lifeguard tower. The new pairings build on that momentum by giving each duo their own spotlight.

The series is co-produced by Fox Entertainment and Fremantle, with Matt Nix of ‘Burn Notice’ serving as showrunner and executive producer. He’s joined by McG, Dante Di Loreto, Mike Horowitz and original creators Michael Berk, Greg Bonann and Doug Schwartz.

Production took place in Venice Beach and on the Fox studio lot in Century City. Fox Television Network President Michael Thorn has framed the project as a modern comeback for a franchise that defined an entire era of beach life, aiming to introduce it to a new generation.

The January timing is also strategic. Fox chose a midseason launch, hoping to repeat the success it saw earlier this year with ‘Best Medicine’, which drew 15.4 million viewers for its debut, and ‘Memory of a Killer’, which reached 18.4 million. With the cast now front and center, all eyes will be on whether this new crew can capture the magic that made the original a global phenomenon.
