Bella Hadid Stopped by Police Moments Before Adan Banuelos Public Intoxication Arrest
New details have emerged regarding the arrest of Adan Banuelos, the award-winning cowboy and on-off boyfriend of supermodel Bella Hadid. The 36-year-old horse trainer was taken into custody for public intoxication in Weatherford, Texas, during the early hours of Saturday, January 31. This incident follows closely on the heels of reports that the high-profile couple had recently ended their two-year relationship.
According to police records obtained by TMZ, the situation unfolded while deputies were conducting a separate traffic stop involving Bella. While officers were speaking with the 29-year-old model at a local venue called Gator’s Cantina, Banuelos reportedly approached the scene on foot. The arresting officer noted in his report that the cowboy’s speech was audibly slurred and his eyes appeared bloodshot and glassy.
Banuelos allegedly told the officers that he had followed Bella to the parking lot because he was concerned for her safety after she accidentally left her phone at the bar. As he spoke, the officer reported a distinct smell of alcohol on his breath. Further complicating the scene, Banuelos had left his white truck running nearby with a dog inside, which he identified as belonging to Bella.
During the interaction, Banuelos admitted to having consumed four beers throughout the day. After failing a field sobriety test, he was placed under arrest to prevent him from potentially driving or becoming a danger to himself. Interestingly, the police report officially identified Bella as his girlfriend, despite the widespread rumors that the pair had split just weeks prior.
Banuelos denied that he was the one who drove the truck to the bar, claiming a friend had been behind the wheel, though he refused to give the officers that person’s name. He explained that he had been home when Bella returned briefly before heading back out to the bar, prompting him to follow her. Ultimately, the officer released Banuelos’ property and the vehicle to Bella at his specific request.
As of early February, Bella Hadid has been focusing heavily on her career and her health following a period of “invisible suffering” from chronic Lyme disease. She has been busy expanding her alcohol-free fragrance brand, Orebella, which recently launched its latest scent, Nightcap. She is also making a significant move into acting, starring in the upcoming FX series The Beauty, created by Ryan Murphy.
The new show features an A-list cast including Evan Peters, Anthony Ramos, and Jeremy Pope, and it marks Bella’s first major recurring television role. Sources say she has been throwing herself into work in Los Angeles and New York to stay positive after her “serious” relationship with Banuelos hit a rough patch.
While she has been spotted back in Texas recently, insiders suggest her supermodel schedule and his life in the insular world of rodeos have made it difficult for them to stay on the same page.
Do you think Bella Hadid will eventually settle down in the quiet cowboy lifestyle of Texas, or is her return to the high-fashion world of the coast a sign that she is moving on for good? Share your thoughts in the comments.
