Beloved 80s Film Icon in Legal Trouble After Battery Lawsuit Emerges
Crispin Hellion Glover, famously known for his eccentric role as George McFly in Back to the Future, has been named in a troubling new lawsuit filed by an anonymous woman from the United Kingdom.
The plaintiff, identified as Jane Doe, alleges that the actor orchestrated a pattern of manipulation to lure her from Europe to his Silver Lake residence in Los Angeles under the guise of career advancement.
According to the legal filing, Glover initially reached out via social media in 2015, persistently messaging her for years until they eventually met in person in Germany in 2023.
The woman claims that during their initial meeting in Dresden, Glover’s behavior was alarming, including an instance where he reportedly displayed Nazi memorabilia from his private collection.
Despite these red flags, she stayed in contact because Glover allegedly dangled lucrative Hollywood work opportunities as a professional incentive. By early 2024, she says, he convinced her to sell her belongings and stop paying rent in Europe to become his live-in assistant, only to discover upon arrival that he expected her to be his girlfriend and work without pay.
The situation reportedly escalated in March 2024 when the woman attempted to leave the house to visit a mosque. Glover allegedly threatened to lock her out if she departed, a threat she claims he followed through on when she returned.
When she tried to re-enter the home to retrieve her cats and personal property, she alleges that Glover attacked her by grabbing her neck and placing her in a chokehold. The lawsuit states that this physical altercation left her with a visible scar and that Glover subsequently contacted the police to report her as an intruder.
For his part, Glover has denied the claims through a representative, who characterized the allegations as baseless and a meritless fabrication. The actor’s team maintains that Glover was actually the victim of a felony assault by the woman on the day in question.
They state that the LAPD investigated the scene and arrested Jane Doe, and they point to a restraining order Glover filed against her as proof of his version of events. The plaintiff, represented by attorney Dev Das, is seeking damages for battery, fraud, and emotional distress, claiming she remains homeless and traumatized.
As of February, the case is moving through the Los Angeles judicial system, with Glover vowing to vigorously defend himself against the accusations. This legal battle comes at a time when the actor is otherwise celebrating several recent professional milestones in the independent film circuit.
In late 2025, Glover premiered his latest starring vehicle, A Blind Bargain, a film inspired by a lost 1922 Lon Chaney silent movie. The project, which emphasizes Glover’s love for traditional 35mm film stock, saw him playing a dual role as an unhinged doctor and a creature-man.
He also recently headlined the Kafkaesque thriller Mr. K, directed by Tallulah H. Schwab, which had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival before touring European festivals throughout 2025.
Additionally, Glover has finally completed his long-gestating personal project, No! YOU’RE WRONG. Or: Spooky Action at a Distance. This film is particularly significant as it features the final screen appearance of his late father, Bruce Glover, and marks the first time the two acted together.
