Benedict Cumberbatch debuted in Marvel Cinematic Universe in the 2016 movie Doctor Strange, in which he played the titular role. Many fans agree that Cumberbatch was absolutely born for this role, and in only five years since his debut, Cumberbatch became one of the fan-favorite MCU veterans.

Cumberbatch reprised the role in Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. He also voiced his character in the animated Disney+ series What If…?. This month, we’ll watch him again in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and next May we’ll watch him in his own sequel Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness.

Although he quickly became one of the MCU veterans, it’s unknown what Marvel has planned for Strange after The Multiverse of Madness. Of course, fans are expecting that Strange will eventually get his third solo movie to conclude the trilogy, but with so many projects in development, who knows what Marvel is planning. Although nothing is sure for now, Cumberbatch revealed that he’d be down to return as the Master of the Mystic Arts in MCU, regardless of whether it’s Doctor Strange 3 or some other MCU project.

“As long as the character is interesting and challenging and doing fantastic things in the MCU, why not?”

Cumberbatch‘s newest movie – The Power of the Dog, in which he stars alongside Spider-Man star Kirsten Dunst is now available on Netflix.

Spider-Man: No Way Home will hit theaters on December 17. Tickets are now on sale. After several delays due to the pandemic, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be released on May 6, 2022.
