Berserk Season 3: Release Date, Trailer, Cast, Plot (Will Berserk Be Finished?)

Berserk is a dark fantasy manga by Kentarō Miura. The manga was adapted into an animated series of 25 episodes between October 1997 and March 1998. A trilogy of animated films was produced between 2012 and 2013. A new animated adaptation was released between July 2016 and June 2017. With the death of Kentarō Miura on May 6, 2021, the future of the series remains uncertain, but we are going to tell you whether we’ll see a third season of the Berserk anime.

The Berserk Season 3 still hasn’t been confirmed yet. The second season aired five years ago, and since then, there have been no new adaptations of the popular manga series. On top of that, Kentarō Miura, the author of the manga, died in 2021 without finishing the storyline. Because of that, the future of Berserk is very uncertain, and there is a possibility that we won’t be seeing any new materials.

The rest of this article will bring you all the known and unknown information related to a potential season 3 of Berserk. You’re going to find out about its potential release date, whether there is a trailer, what the story could be about, and much more about this intriguing anime series that has, since its debut, gained a cult following around the world.

Berserk Season 3 release date

The animation studio Oriental Light and Magic produced an anime series with 25 episodes based on the first 13 manga volumes under the title Kempū Denki Berserk, which ran from October 7, 1997 to March 31, 1997. In September 2010, Studio 4°C announced that it had planned an adaptation of Kentarō Miura’s manga.

In July 2011, the studio announced that it has started work on three feature films. The first part, titled Berserk Ōgon Jidai-Hen I: Haō no Tamago was released in cinemas on February 4, 2012. The second part was released on June 23, 2012, and the third and final installment was released in cinemas on February 1, 2013.

A new animated series was announced at the end of December 2015. The first season aired in July 2016, with twelve episodes in total. The second season was broadcasted in April 2017. It followed the events of the anime films and served, thus, as a sequel.

There have been five years with absolutely no information on the future of Berserker and with Miura dying in 2021, the future is very uncertain. The manga has a cult following and Miura’s legacy absolutely deserves a continuation, but with the manga’s future being uncertain, we cannot even dare speculate about the anime series. This is why, at this point, we have absolutely no new information for you.

Berserk Season 3 trailer

You now know all the facts and our thoughts related to Berserk season 3, which means that you’ve probably deduced for yourselves that there is no trailer for the second season of Berserk. This is because we do not know whether there will even be a second season of the show, which means that a trailer might not appear at all. Based on everything we’ve said in the previous section, a trailer is absolutely uncertain as we don’t know the future of the whole series, the anime included. This is why we cannot even speculate about the future of Berserk.

Berserk Season 3 plot

We know that the second season of the reboot anime ended on what was Volume 29 of the manga. As of April 2022, there are 41 volumes of Berserk out of print. In that aspect, we can assume that a potential third season would continue the story from Volume 29 onward, but we don’t know how many volumes it would adapt.

Will Berserk be finished?

With Miura’s death, the future of Berserk became unknown. Hakusensha officially stated that the future of the series remained uncertain and that the staff’s priority would “always be placed on him — what he would think if he were still with us.” The afterword in the manga’s posthumously published 41st volume (released in December 2021) from Young Animal‘s editorial staff stated that the future of the manga was still undecided.

Berserk Season 3 cast

It’s still too early for us to discuss a potential third season of Berserk in terms of cast and characters, simply because we do not know whether there will even be a third season. But, seeing how we know that the series is going to have a more-or-less fixed cast, we really don’t expect to see too many changes in the structure of season three, if it ever happens. Now, the main characters that have appeared in previous seasons, likely to return for a third season, include:

Where to watch Berserk Season 3?

At this moment, as expected, there is no means of watching Berserk season three, as there is no season three of Berserk to watch. The first two seasons were streamed globally by Crunchyroll, the best anime-related site on the Internet, and later by Funimation in dubbed format, so it is safe to assume that a third season, if it ever happens, will also be streamed via Crunchyroll and Funimation.

Will there be a Berserk Season 4?

The future of Berserk is, as of this moment, unknown, as we have explained above. At this moment, we don’t really know anything about a third season, so whether we’ll be seeing a fourth season or not is still largely unknown. The future of the whole unfinished series is still uncertain due to Miura’s death, so the overall popularity of the series doesn’t really influence the future of the anime; on top of that, it has been five years since we saw an adaptation of Berserk, which is never a good sign. Be that as it may, the fate of a fourth season of Berserk is the same as the fate of the whole series – unknown.
