This is because we do not know whether there will even be a second season of the show, which means that a trailer might not appear at all. Based on everything we’ve said in the previous section, a trailer is absolutely uncertain as we don’t know the future of the whole series, the anime included. This is why we cannot even speculate about the future of Berserk.

Berserk Season 3 plot

We know that the second season of the reboot anime ended on what was Volume 29 of the manga. As of April 2022, there are 41 volumes of Berserk out of print. In that aspect, we can assume that a potential third season would continue the story from Volume 29 onward, but we don’t know how many volumes it would adapt. What follows is a brief synopsis of the events that happen later in the story and that have not been adapted yet.

Puck believes Guts and Kjaskar can find healing in Elfheim, the home of his people. So the companions embark on the long (sea) journey there. In doing so, they come into conflict with Griffith’s apostles and the Kushans. The latter leads the decisive attack on the city of Vritannis, where the remaining warriors of Midland and those of the bordering countries have gathered.

Griffith enjoys the favor of the pope and, after the king’s death, has the princess at his side, making him the most powerful man in Midland. The intervention of Griffith and his army of Apostles drives the Kushans and their demonic Emperor, Ganishka, to the brink of destruction. In his desire for the “light” – the absolute power of the hand of God that was never intended for him – Ganishka transforms himself into a colossal super-being that knows no stopping.

However, Griffith is able to defeat him along with the incoming Zodd, after which Ganishka freezes into a gigantic tree piercing the clouds. Simultaneously, the skeleton knight appears, sensing his chance to finish off the hated Griffith. His attack, which misses Griffith and hits the frozen Ganishka, opens a passage between dimensions. Numerous mystical creatures enter the story’s world from their world, including trolls, hydras, dragons, and unicorns.

Even the demonic apostles did not reckon with this. A new world is created where Griffith can seize power and eventually find his empire Falconia. Meanwhile, Guts and his friends are on their way to Elfheim. Various threats, including pirates and a crazed sea sprite, can be defeated with a combined effort, the berserker armor, and the help of a group of peaceful mermaids.

Farnese transforms by allowing Schielke to teach her the healing powers of white magic. This transformation is astonishing since Farnese once hunted down people like Schielke and burned them at the stake. Finally, in the distance, the island of Elfheim comes into view.

Gradually, the reader learns more about the Skull Knight. He appears to be the incarnation of Genseric, a legendary king from the past who violently united the known world into one vast empire. He used a dark armor that looked like the black armor of Guts. According to legend, Genseric’s kingdom prospered until one day when he had a cleric imprisoned and tortured in the Tower of Conviction (The place where the monastery of Albion was later built).

The minister complained so fervently to God that he was eventually granted an audience with the members of the Hand of God. But since he didn’t have a Behelit Stone, his sacrifice had to be bigger than usual. He willingly sacrificed the entire population of Genseric’s empire in exchange for new life and freedom.

Genseric himself merged into his new armor (a skeletal armor) and was banished to another dimension to wander forever. It turns out that Genseric (if the theory that he is the skeleton knight is correct) subsequently looked for a way to track down and destroy the hand of God. Throughout over a thousand years, the Skull Knight even learned to travel between different dimensions – but the hated members of the God Hand remained hidden from him, so he was forced to await the rare Demon Nights when the Archangels showed themselves.

However, despite his immense powers, he has not been able to successfully attack Void and the other Archangels. The failed fierce attack on Griffith was just the latest in a series of many, including the attack attempting to save Guts and Kjaskar from their sacrifice. Rickert, the only member of the Falcon’s original band not present at the sacrifice and rebirth of Griffith as a femuth, had made his way to Falconia following Guts’ departure from his foster father’s home.

With Erica, his step-sister, and some other travelers, they are finally greeted by soldiers near the new capital and escorted to the city gates. Falconia came out of nowhere, is home to hundreds of thousands of people, and is the largest and most technologically advanced city you’ve ever seen.

All of the original ruling families have submitted to Griffith, even the survivors of the defeated Kushans have allied themselves with Falconia and served its citizens. Rickert is still plagued by the memory of what Guts related: that Griffith sacrificed all his friends to Hell, mutilated Guts, and drove Kjaskar insane for his tremendous power.

He suspects that Griffith’s new kingdom of Falconia was built on millions of corpses and is far from being as divine as it appears. He requests an audience with Griffith, which he is granted. Before that, however, Locus, one of Griffith’s bodyguards and one of the most powerful apostles himself, takes him for a walk.

Locus shows him that beyond the impassable walls of Falconia, protected from the eyes of its human population, an arena Locus calls the Pandemonium has been built. Here, Griffith’s apostles battle captured monsters from the other dimensions in their true demonic form.

Locus explains to Rickert that this arena is a concession from Griffith to his apostles, since most of them could hardly contain themselves at the sight of so many people in Falconia and, according to their nature, would like to cause a bloodbath. Rickert almost breaks down at realizing how endangered people are in the godlike Falconia and calls the arena “a glimpse into hell,” which Locus confirms with amusement.

The subsequent audience with Griffith is very brief. Rickert, infinitely horrified and angry about what he had just seen, slapped Falconia’s leader and left the palace. Griffith does nothing and even seems to understand Rickert’s anger. On his own initiative and without Griffith’s knowledge, he suggests that Rakshas, another member of the bodyguard, let Rickert “disappear.”

Once a Kushane and a master of backstabbing, the apostle Rakshas enthusiastically agrees. He waits near the house where Rickert is staying and wants to cut Rickert’s throat. However, Rickert is saved by the suddenly appearing Silat and his extremely strong four-strong Tapasa bodyguard. The Tapasa warriors break Raksha’s porcelain mask, after which he almost bursts into tears and disappears.

Silat offers to babysit Rickert if Rickert tells him everything he knows about Griffith. Rickert agrees but announces that he wants to leave town as soon as possible. Silat tells him about a mountain village in the former empire of the Kushans, which is almost impregnable, and they decide to go there. However before they can leave the city, they are attacked again by Rakshas.

Again, Silat and two of the Tapasa warriors can engage Rakshas in a fight, but this time Rakshas transforms into his apostle form, taking Rickert’s stepsister Erica hostage and threatening to rip her to pieces. Just in time, the other two Tapasa show up and set the draped Rakshas ablaze with a homemade flamethrower, causing him to drop Erica.

Together with an old man, who turns out to be Ganishka’s former court magician Daiba, they can flee the city on large flying animals. Rakshas pursues them in a rage, but Rickert, who learned the trade of blacksmithing from his foster father, pulls out a small bazooka-like weapon and shoots the approaching Rakshas in the face with it.

Humiliated and injured, Rakshas falls to the ground and breaks off the pursuit. Guts and the others have finally reached Elfheim. But there they are awaited by living scarecrows and a burning wicker man. In the background are figures resembling the witch Schielke. They control the attacking scarecrows, but why is unclear. With the appearance of a witch named Morda flying on a broomstick, who controls the wicker man, the story ends with a cliffhanger for the time being.

Will Berserk be finished?

With Miura’s death, the future of Berserk became unknown. Hakusensha officially stated that the future of the series remained uncertain and that the staff’s priority would “always be placed on him — what he would think if he were still with us.” The afterword in the manga’s posthumously published 41st volume (released in December 2021) from Young Animal‘s editorial staff stated that the future of the manga was still undecided.

Berserk Season 3 cast

It’s still too early for us to discuss a potential third season of Berserk in terms of cast and characters, simply because we do not know whether there will even be a third season. But, seeing how we know that the series is going to have a more-or-less fixed cast, we really don’t expect to see too many changes in the structure of season three, if it ever happens. Now, the main characters that have appeared in previous seasons, likely to return for a third season, include:

Where to watch Berserk Season 3?

At this moment, as expected, there is no means of watching Berserk season three, as there is no season three of Berserk to watch. The first two seasons were streamed globally by Crunchyroll, the best anime-related site on the Internet, and later by Funimation in dubbed format, so it is safe to assume that a third season, if it ever happens, will also be streamed via Crunchyroll and Funimation.

Will there be a Berserk Season 4?

The future of Berserk is, as of this moment, unknown, as we have explained above. At this moment, we don’t really know anything about a third season, so whether we’ll be seeing a fourth season or not is still largely unknown. The future of the whole unfinished series is still uncertain due to Miura’s death, so the overall popularity of the series doesn’t really influence the future of the anime; on top of that, it has been five years since we saw an adaptation of Berserk, which is never a good sign. Be that as it may, the fate of a fourth season of Berserk is the same as the fate of the whole series – unknown.
