‘Best Medicine’ Season 2 Episode 5 Release Date, Time, Where to Watch & Preview

The fifth episode of ‘Best Medicine’ is listed to air on Fox on Tuesday, Oct. 20. Rotten Tomatoes’ season guide lists the episode as airing Oct. 20 under the title “Hare Today, Gone Tomorrow.” It follows the fourth installment on Oct. 13, in which Martin tries to leave Port Wenn for a weekend in Boston but is delayed by three patients who all behave strangely after a meditation retreat.

Fans of the medical dramedy starring Josh Charles have a few practical questions heading into the next outing, namely when it lands, what time it airs and how to stream it. This guide covers the schedule, the viewing options and what Fox has revealed about the story. Charles plays Dr. Martin Best, a heart surgeon known for his lack of bedside manner and his fear of blood.

Release Date for the Fifth Episode of ‘Best Medicine’

Season listings place “Hare Today, Gone Tomorrow” on Oct. 20, one week after the fourth episode. The weekly Tuesday rhythm began after an unusual start. The second season opened with a special early premiere on Sunday, Sept. 20, before the premiere re-aired in its regular slot on Tuesday, Sept. 22.

The second episode, “Breakin’ In Is Hard to Do,” followed on Sept. 29, and “Crate Expectations” aired on Oct. 6. That means the fifth episode lands roughly one third of the way through the season.

There is plenty of story left to tell. The second season runs 14 episodes, one more than the first season. Fox had initially ordered 12 episodes and bumped the count up during the network’s upfront presentations.

Air Time on Fox for New Episodes

New episodes air weekly on Tuesdays from 8 to 9 p.m. ET/PT, ahead of the third season of ‘Doc.’ Viewers on the West Coast should check local listings, since the network schedule is built around those Eastern and Pacific times.

The placement was a deliberate choice by the network. Fox Television Network president Michael Thorn told reporters that returning its sophomore shows prominently was a priority, and that pairing ‘Best Medicine’ with ‘Doc’ on Tuesday nights felt like a powerful move for both the night and the show’s long term prospects.

That confidence rests on a strong debut. Deadline reported that the series premiere drew 12.6 million total multi platform viewers, placing it among the top two highest rated drama debuts of that season. Fox renewed the series for a second season in March 2026.

Where to Watch the Episode Online

Anyone who misses the broadcast has an easy fallback. New episodes debut on streaming the next day on Hulu and Disney+ following their network premiere. In practice that means new episodes are available to stream on Wednesdays.

Netflix is a different story for now. The first season is streaming there, but viewers should not expect second season episodes to appear week to week. The first season reached Netflix in August 2026, well after its finale, and the second season would likely follow a similar pattern.

Some outlets have tried to estimate when that might happen. What’s on Netflix predicts the second season could reach the service around April or May of next year, based on the four month gap seen with the first season. That timeline is a projection rather than an announcement, so viewers who want to watch live or next day should stick with Fox, Hulu and Disney+.

Episode Preview for ‘Hare Today, Gone Tomorrow’

The official description points toward one of the more emotional cases of the season. When the wife of a traveling magician duo dies at the Salty Breeze, Martin must help the husband, who is unable to grasp that she is gone. That setup puts the doctor’s famously blunt manner in direct conflict with a patient who is grieving.

There is also a development on the relationship front. Martin gets a new male medical monitor who has an instant connection with Louisa. Earlier in the season, Louisa has been seeing Martin’s girlfriend Eden for medical guidance, so the romantic and professional lines in Port Wenn are already tangled.

The ensemble also includes Abigail Spencer as Louisa Gavin, Josh Segarra as the sheriff, Annie Potts as Aunt Sarah and Cree as Elaine Denton. The series is an adaptation of the British hit ‘Doc Martin.’ Readers who tune in on Oct. 20 may want to share in the comments whether Martin’s blunt bedside manner can reach a magician who cannot accept that his wife is gone, and whether Louisa’s instant connection with the new medical monitor will cause trouble for the town doctor.
