10 Best Shakira Barrera Movies & TV Shows
Shakira Barrera is a young, rising star who was just recently confirmed for a regular role in MCU’s Ironheart series. We don’t know what exactly Shakira’s role will be, but we know the show will focus on Riri Williams, a genius teenage girl who creates her own Iron Suit in the absence of Tony Stark, the original Iron Man.
Barrera’s popularity surged after joining the cast of Netflix’s GLOW series, where she portrayed Yolanda, aka Yo-Yo, and became a fan-favorite character in the show. However, the Nicaraguan-American actress already has numerous roles behind her. So, to get to know her better, I bring you the list of ten best Shakira Barrera movies and TV shows ranked.
10. Collection (2021)
IMDb Rating: 4.4/10
Type: Live-action movie
Genre: Crime, Drama, Thriller
Synopsis: “A grieving father grapples with the seedy, manipulative world of high stakes debt collection while struggling to shed the tragedies of his past. He’ll find himself pitted against his best friend, his prodigy and his love.”
Shakira Barrera’s role: Shakira portrayed Christina, one of the female leads in the movie. The film itself was quite bad, but it was one of Barrera’s first major lead roles, and she did a great job.

Genre: Action, Comedy, Crime, Drama, Thriller
Synopsis: “A slightly unhinged cop is partnered with a veteran detective trying to maintain a low stress level in his life.”
Shakira Barrera’s role: Barrera portrayed a character called Nina Delillo in a single episode of the show. However, I loved the role, and the series itself was incredibly amusing to me, so it deserved a spot on the list despite such a minor role for Shakira.

7. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2013-2020)
IMDb Rating: 7.5/10
Type: TV Series
Genre: Action, Adventure, Drama, Sci-Fi, Thriller
Synopsis: “After the Battle of New York, the world has changed. It now knows not only about the Avengers but also the powerful menaces that require those superheroes and more to face them.
In response, Phil Coulson of the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division assembles an elite covert team to find and deal with these threats wherever they are found. With a world rapidly becoming more bizarre and dangerous than ever before as the supervillains arise, these agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. are ready to take them on.”
Shakira Barrera’s role: Shakira only appeared in a single episode of the show, namely Season 7, Episode 6, titled Adapt or Die. She portrayed Agent King and an imposter posing to be Agent King.
With Barrera being confirmed to be in Ironheart and the Secret Invasion trailer dropping at the same time, perhaps she will play the same or a similar role again, likely as a Skrull imposter? We’ll see, but I found the connection interesting.

Synopsis: “The series centers on 17-year-old Joshua “J” Cody, who moves in with his freewheeling relatives in their Southern California beach town after his mother dies of a heroin overdose.
Headed by boot-tough matriarch Janine “Smurf” Cody and her right-hand Baz, who runs the business and calls the shots, the clan also consists of Pope, the oldest and most dangerous of the Cody boys; Craig, the tough and fearless middle son; and Deran, the troubled, suspicious “baby” of the family.”
Shakira Barrera’s role: Barrera portrayed Cassandra in three episodes of the show’s Season 5. It was a minor role, but in my opinion, the best series Shakira has ever been a part of – at least so far.

Shakira Barrera’s role: Barrera portrayed Heidi Cronch for three episodes in the final season of the show. The character was amusing but a minor role. Still, shameless is one of the best comedy series of the past decade, so it certainly deserves such a high spot on the list.

Shakira Barrera’s role: Shakira Barrera portrays Gloria, one of the leads of the show, along with Jack, Rooster, Wiggles, Melvin, and Barb. The show is an absolute must-watch so far – the humor is refreshing and smart, and Gloria is probably my favorite character.

2. GLOW (2017-2019)
IMDb Rating: 8.0/10
Type: Netflix Original Series
Genre: Comedy, Drama, Sport
Synopsis: “In 1985 Los Angeles, struggling actress Ruth Wilder auditions along with many other women for a fledgling professional-wrestling promotion called the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling (GLOW).
Traditionally-minded in her approach to acting and highly idealistic, she clashes with GLOW’s director Sam Sylvia because of his cynical demeanor and often-unconventional work style. She discovers early on that he has employed her former best friend, retired soap-opera actress Debbie Eagan to star in the show.
Ruth and Debbie had fallen out with each other after Ruth had an affair with her husband Mark, whom she then divorced. The tension between the two women promises to either make or break the developing show.”
Shakira Barrera’s role: This particular role was the one that Shakira Barrera is best known for. She joined the show in Season 2, portraying Yolanda Rivas, aka Yo-Yo, which quickly became a fan-favorite character.
Honestly, it suited Barrera so well, as she had also participated in the real-life WWE Smackdown pro wrestling for a while.

1. Ironheart (2023-)
IMDb Rating: TBD
Type: TV Series
Genre: Action, Adventure, Drama, Superhero, Fantasy, Sci-Fi
Synopsis: “Genius teenage inventor Riri Williams creates the most advanced suit of armor since Iron Man.”
Shakira Barrera’s role: It’s still unclear which role Shakira Barrera will have in Ironheart, but it was confirmed that she would appear in an important, regular role. Dominique Thorne will portray the lead character – young Riri Williams.
Call me an optimist, but I really believe this could be an amazing show and the best role of Barrera’s career so far. I love Riri in the comics, so I’m sure it’ll translate to the MCU as well.
