Beth & Rip’s ‘Yellowstone’ Spinoff Ropes In a New Star
Ed Harris is joining the Yellowstone world. Deadline reports that the veteran actor has been cast in The Dutton Ranch, the spinoff series focusing on Beth and Rip. Harris will appear alongside Kelly Reilly, Cole Hauser, and Finn Little, who return to their original roles. Annette Bening has also been confirmed as part of the cast.
The new series follows Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler as they protect the land they have fought hard to keep.
Their ranch spans 7,000 acres and is central to their story of survival and family. They continue to face challenges while raising Carter, played again by Finn Little.
Harris is taking on the role of Everett McKinney, a veteran who now works as a veterinarian. His character is described as kind with animals and someone who carries a good sense of humor.
The show will be set in the same time frame as the original Yellowstone, making it the closest spinoff yet to the main storyline.
Taylor Sheridan created the franchise, with Chad Feehan running the new series.
The Yellowstone franchise has grown quickly over the years. The flagship show follows the Dutton family and their fight to protect the largest cattle ranch in the United States. Prequels 1883 and 1923 have already finished, and other spinoffs are on the way, including The Madison with Michelle Pfeiffer and Y: Marshals starring Luke Grimes. Additional projects like 1944 and 6666 are also in development.
Harris brings a strong track record to the series. He has earned Oscar nominations for roles in Apollo 13, The Truman Show, Pollock, and The Hours. On television, audiences know him from Westworld, where he played The Man in Black throughout its run. His recent work includes narrating the Netflix documentary Wyatt Earp and the Cowboy War and roles in Marvel’s upcoming Wonder Man, the thriller Huntington, and the comedy The Dink.
