Nintendo’s September 2025 Direct is packed with excitement, and fans won’t want to miss a second. From long-awaited game reveals for the Switch 2 to updates on beloved franchises like Mario and Metroid, this edition promises plenty of surprises. We’ve rounded up all the biggest announcements and highlights so you can stay on top of everything Nintendo shared.

1. Resident Evil

Capcom is releasing Resident Evil Requiem on the Switch 2, along with Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Resident Evil Village. All three games are set to launch on February 27, 2026.

2. Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave

A brand-new installment in Intelligent Systems’ popular tactical RPG series is heading to the Switch 2 in 2026. Titled Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, the game promises to bring fresh storylines, strategic battles, and the series’ signature mix of deep character relationships and challenging gameplay.

3. Danganronpa 2×2

The fan-favorite Danganronpa 2: Grave Despair is getting a full remake, bringing the intense murder-mystery experience to a new generation of players. Just like the original, the game challenges you to think critically, analyze evidence, and uncover contradictions in suspects’ alibis. Players will need to carefully piece together clues, solve puzzles, and navigate tense trials to expose the culprit.

4. Pokemon Legends: Z-A

Pokémon Legends: Z-A is launching soon, and plans for post-release content have already been revealed. A paid expansion titled Mega Dimension will be available, introducing two Raichu characters, each with their own unique Mega Evolution forms, adding new strategies and surprises for players to explore.

5. Powerwash Simulator 2

Making dirt pay off, at least for the person scrubbing it, PowerWash Simulator 2 is set to arrive on Switch 2 in Fall 2025.

6. Pokopia

The shape-shifting Pokémon Ditto is starring in its own game, Pokémon Pokopia, which draws inspiration from titles like Dragon Quest Builders and Stardew Valley. The game is currently in development and is planned for release on Switch 2 in 2026.

7. Donkey Kong Bananza: DK Island and Emerald Rush

Players can explore a brand-new location called DK Island through paid DLC of the same name. In addition, Donkey Kong stars in Emerald Rush, a roguelike add-on to Donkey Kong Bananza, where he works for Void Co. collecting green gems. Both DK Island and Emerald Rush are available as paid expansions for Switch 2, with Emerald Rush launching today.

8. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond

Samus returns in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, and this time she’s hitting the world on a motorcycle. A new gameplay trailer shows players navigating the game’s environments by bike. Fans also got long-awaited news: the game will officially launch on December 4.

9. Virtual Boy

Nintendo’s notorious Virtual Boy is making a comeback. Classic titles like Mario’s Tennis, Galactic Pinball, and Teleroboxer will join the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack library on February 17. In a surprising move, Nintendo is also offering a physical Virtual Boy shell that lets you slot your Switch console in for a retro-inspired experience.

10. Dragon Quest 7: Reimagined

A full remake of Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past, the classic PlayStation RPG from 2000, is set to launch on both Switch and Switch 2 on February 5, 2026.

11. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment

Nintendo has announced that Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, a Zelda-themed hack-and-slash adventure, will arrive on Switch 2 on November 5.

12. Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection

Mortal Kombat fans have something to look forward to later this year. Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection will be released digitally on Switch consoles on October 30, giving players a chance to revisit classic fighters and iconic battles from the series.

For collectors and fans who prefer physical copies, a special edition of the compilation will hit stores on December 12. This release promises to bring together some of the franchise’s most memorable moments, making it a must-play for longtime fans and newcomers alike.

13. Kirby Air Riders

Kirby Air Riders is an upcoming racing game for the Nintendo Switch 2, developed by Bandai Namco Studios and Sora Ltd., and published by Nintendo. This new title is a spin-off of the Kirby series and serves as the sequel to the 2003 GameCube game Kirby Air Ride. Masahiro Sakurai, who hasn’t directed a Kirby game since the original, is returning to lead the project. Kirby Air Riders is scheduled for release on November 20, 2025.

14. Hades 2

Supergiant’s long-awaited roguelike game now has an official release date. It will launch on September 25 for Switch, Switch 2, and Windows PC.

15. Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream

Nintendo has revealed a fresh look at Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, the Mii-based simulation game, now scheduled to launch on Nintendo Switch in spring 2026.

16. Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade

The Switch 2 version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade now has an official release date: it will arrive on January 22, 2026.

17. Popucom


Via Gryph Frontier

The puzzle-shooter Popucom, part Splatoon, part Zuma, is coming to Nintendo Switch this holiday season. This charming co-op game will challenge players to work together and test their teamwork skills when it launches later this year.

18. Dinkum

Via Krafton

Dinkum, a charming survival game inspired by the Australian wilderness, is coming as a timed exclusive for Switch. The game is set to launch on November 5.

19. Storm Lancers

Storm Lancers, a new 2D action-platformer roguelike with retro-inspired gameplay, is launching today exclusively for Nintendo Switch.

20. Yoshi and The Mysterious Book

A brand-new Yoshi adventure is headed to Nintendo Switch 2, with Yoshi and The Mysterious Book set to launch in spring 2026.

21. Mario Tennis Fever

A brand-new Mario Tennis game is coming to Nintendo Switch 2, bringing sports action back to the Mushroom Kingdom. Mario Tennis Fever introduces new slide and dive moves, along with super-powered Fever Rackets that can trigger powerful effects, including some inspired by Super Mario Bros. Wonder.

The game will feature 38 playable characters, multiple game modes, motion controls, and even a story mode where the cast gets turned into babies. Mario Tennis Fever is set to launch on February 12, 2026.

22. Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2

Two of the most beloved 3D Mario adventures, Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2, are getting full remasters for both Switch and Switch 2.

The games will be released together as a bundled collection, giving fans the chance to revisit the magical worlds, inventive level designs, and memorable soundtrack that made these titles classics. The collection is set to launch on October 2, offering both longtime fans and new players an upgraded way to experience these iconic adventures.

23. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

The sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie from Illumination has been officially announced. Nintendo is calling it the “main event” of the celebrations for the 40th anniversary of the Super Mario Bros. franchise. The new film is titled The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
