HBO has released the midseason trailer for IT: Welcome to Derry, teasing events from the final four episodes of the series. Fans can catch up on the first four episodes now streaming on HBO Max. The remaining episodes of the eight-part season will air on Sundays on both HBO and HBO Max, with the season finale scheduled for December 14.

IT: Welcome to Derry is a supernatural horror series based on Stephen King’s 1986 novel It. It serves as a prequel to the 2017 and 2019 It films.

The show was developed by Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti, and Jason Fuchs, all of whom were involved in the original films. The cast includes Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, James Remar, Stephen Rider, Clara Stack, Amanda Christine, and Mikkal Karim-Fidler. Bill Skarsgård reprises his role as Pennywise, also serving as an executive producer on the series.

The series began development in early 2022, with Fuchs and Brad Kane later hired as showrunners. HBO greenlit the project in February 2023, and Andy Muschietti directed multiple episodes, including the pilot. Skarsgård was officially cast in May 2024. Filming started in May 2023 but was paused in July due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike. Production wrapped in August 2024. IT: Welcome to Derry premiered on HBO on October 26, and has received mostly positive reviews from critics.

The story is set in 1962, focusing on a family that moves to Derry, Maine, just as a young boy disappears. Strange and frightening events begin to unfold in the town following their arrival.

The midseason trailer offers fans a glimpse at the escalating horrors and shows Bill Skarsgård’s Pennywise in chilling new scenes. With the finale approaching, tension is expected to peak as the series builds toward its climax.
