Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni Accidentally Coordinate Looks for Their First NYC Court Appearance
In a striking and somewhat bizarre scene at the Manhattan federal courthouse, former co-stars Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni came face-to-face this week to attempt a last-minute resolution of their high-profile legal battle. Both arrived on February 11 for a court-ordered settlement conference aimed at avoiding a public trial.
In an odd twist that quickly went viral, the two appeared to be wearing coordinated olive green and pink outfits, a coincidence that onlookers noted seemed to signal a strange, unintentional harmony amid their fierce litigation.
The hearing marked the first time the two have been in the same courtroom since Lively filed her explosive complaint in late 2024. The Gossip Girl star has alleged that she was subjected to sexual harassment and retaliatory behavior while working on the film, further claiming that Baldoni and his associates orchestrated a smear campaign against her.
For his part, Baldoni has consistently denied these accusations, describing the legal action as false, outrageous, and intentionally salacious with an intent to hurt. Led by Magistrate Judge Sarah L. Cave, the closed-door discussions lasted nearly seven hours as both parties worked through their respective legal teams.
Despite the lengthy session, the efforts to find common ground were ultimately unsuccessful. Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, confirmed to reporters as they exited that no settlement was reached today, suggesting that the case is now firmly on track for the jury trial currently scheduled for May 18.

The legal standoff has grown increasingly complex over the past year, dragging in various celebrities and even leading to dismissed lawsuits against major news organizations. Lively’s legal team has suggested that her high-profile social circle, including Taylor Swift and Ryan Reynolds, could be called upon to provide information during the upcoming trial.
While Baldoni appeared somewhat composed and was seen smiling as he departed with his wife, Emily, Lively appeared more solemn, leaving the courthouse without offering any public comment on the day’s proceedings.
As of this year, both actors are attempting to move forward with their professional lives despite the shadow of the ongoing $550 million lawsuit. Blake Lively made a successful return to the screen in Another Simple Favor, a sequel to her 2018 thriller that premiered to strong reviews last year.
She is currently preparing to star in and produce a new action-oriented romantic comedy titled The Survival List, where she will play a reality TV producer stranded on a deserted island with a fraudulent survival expert.
Justin Baldoni is also staying active behind the camera through his production company, Wayfarer Studios. He recently served as a producer on the sports drama The Senior, starring Michael Chiklis, which hit theaters in 2025.
He is also rumored to be developing a new documentary series focused on male vulnerability and modern fatherhood, continuing the themes explored in his earlier book and podcast work.
Do you think the “matching outfits” at the courthouse were a strategic attempt by both PR teams to project a sense of peace, or was it truly just a remarkably poorly timed fashion coincidence? Share your thoughts in the comments.
