‘Blue Lights’ Season 4 Episode 3 Release Date, Time, Where to Watch and Preview

Share:

The third episode of the fourth series of ‘Blue Lights’ is titled Everybody Knows, and it premieres on October 13, 2026. It airs at 9pm like every other episode in the run. For fans of the Belfast police drama, it is the point where a long running thread finally reaches a courtroom.

This guide covers the release date and time, the viewing options in the UK and abroad, and what the official synopsis reveals. The episode also arrives at a pivotal moment for the show, since it is the installment in which Gerry’s trial begins.

Release Date and Time for the Third Episode

Everybody Knows is the third of six episodes, and the series is scheduled to wrap up on November 3. The second episode, Numbers, aired on October 6, which means viewers who are keeping pace have just one week to wait.

The fourth series began its run on BBC One. Episodes started airing on September 29 at 9.00pm. New episodes air on Tuesdays at 9pm in the UK, so the October 13 broadcast keeps to the same weekly rhythm.

There is also a behind the scenes marker worth noting. Angela Griffin directs the first three episodes while Sam O’Mahony takes over for the final three. That makes the third episode the end of Griffin’s block, and the point where the series changes directors. Declan Lawn and Adam Patterson wrote the series.

Where to Watch ‘Blue Lights’ in the UK and Beyond

UK viewers can watch free on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, provided they hold a TV licence. That is the simplest route for anyone catching the third episode live or on demand.

Reports differ slightly on how the series is being released. Woman&Home says all six episodes were made available together on BBC iPlayer from September 29, while Reelgood lists weekly Tuesday broadcasts at 9pm. Viewers who want to be certain should check the iPlayer listing for the exact availability of the episode.

Outside the UK, the options depend on region. Australian viewers can stream the series free on SBS On Demand from October 8, 2026, and Reelgood says the series will reach BritBox following the same international pattern as the previous series. The earlier series are already available on BritBox in the U.S. Some viewers also use a VPN set to a UK server to access BBC iPlayer while travelling.

Episode Preview and the Gerry Cliff Trial

The official synopsis is brief but loaded. As Gerry’s trial begins, Mo’s unstable mental health sparks a struggle between the state and justice, and Shane has a tense confrontation with Lee. That pairing suggests a hour that balances courtroom stakes with fraying personal situations inside the section.

The preceding episode sets the tone. Following the attack on Amira, Grace’s determination puts her in danger while Mo spirals further with unhappy consequences. Mo’s arc therefore carries directly into the third episode, where it becomes entangled with the legal process.

The trial itself is the engine of the series. The BBC says the murder trial of Gerry Cliff exposes a dangerous and long buried secret that causes chaos inside the police and across the criminal underworld. Gerry was killed in the first season after being shot in an ambush, so Richard Dormer returns in a special single episode rather than as a regular presence.

The later episodes show how far the case reaches. In the fourth episode Sandra reflects on a secret Gerry once shared with her and realises she holds volatile information. By the finale, Gerry’s evidence on state collusion is released, which makes the third episode the opening move in a much larger reckoning.

Cast and Creative Team Behind the Fourth Series

Three years into their jobs, Grace Ellis, Tommy Foster and Annie Conlon are operating at their limit and facing a new threat the police can barely control. Siân Brooke, Nathan Braniff and Katherine Devlin play the three constables.

The wider ensemble is substantial. The cast includes Andi Osho as Sandra, Frank Blake as Shane and Abigail McGibbon as Tina. Cathy Tyson plays private members club owner Dana Morgan and Michael Smiley plays intelligence officer Paul Collins, while Hannah McClean and Jonathan Harden return for an episode that resolves questions from the past.

The production has strong institutional backing. Brendan Mullin produces the fourth series, which was commissioned by Lindsay Salt, the BBC’s Director of Drama. The BBC ordered a double renewal in February 2024, confirming the third and fourth series before the second had aired, and the show has been sold in over 160 territories.

The critical standing helps explain that confidence. One report puts the show at 94 percent on Rotten Tomatoes across its run. With Gerry Cliff’s trial finally opening and Mo’s struggles pitting the state against justice, do you expect the courtroom to deliver the truth or to protect the section?
