Brad Pitt Is Back as Cliff Booth in First Look at ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ Sequel, ‘The Adventures of Cliff Booth’
Brad Pitt is stepping back into the shoes of Cliff Booth, and fans just got their first look at him in The Adventures of Cliff Booth, the highly anticipated sequel to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Directed by David Fincher and written by Quentin Tarantino, the new movie continues Booth’s story, this time taking place in 1977, eight years after the original film’s events.
The first-look photos, shared online this week, show Pitt in character again, complete with his laid-back style and signature charm. He’s joined by a stacked cast including Scott Caan, Elizabeth Debicki, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Carla Gugino, Holt McCallany, JB Tadena, and Corey Fogelmanis. While we don’t get many plot details from the images, they set the tone for what looks like another stylish ride through Tarantino’s Hollywood.

The story follows Cliff Booth in a new chapter of his life as a Hollywood studio fixer, someone who deals with behind-the-scenes chaos for big productions. This new take on his character has been in the works for a while. Back in 2021, Tarantino mentioned wanting to explore Cliff’s time in a POW camp during World War II, saying, “Someday I’ll do his adventure in the POW camp.” That concept eventually shifted and evolved into this new film.
In early 2024, Tarantino was reportedly working on a different project called The Movie Critic, but that script turned into what would become the next chapter of Cliff Booth’s story. According to reports from Deadline and other outlets, Netflix bought the script and brought in David Fincher to direct. Pitt was already confirmed to return, and there were even talks that Leonardo DiCaprio might reprise his role as Rick Dalton, though nothing has been confirmed on that front yet.
By mid-2025, the cast started taking shape. Elizabeth Debicki officially joined, followed by Scott Caan. In June, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Carla Gugino, and Holt McCallany came on board. A month later, JB Tadena and Corey Fogelmanis rounded out the main cast. As more casting news came out, the film’s title was shortened from The Continuing Adventures of Cliff Booth to The Adventures of Cliff Booth.
Filming officially began on July 28, 2025, in California and is expected to wrap up by early 2026. With such a unique mix of talent behind and in front of the camera, and with Tarantino still pulling the creative strings, expectations are high for this follow-up.
There’s still plenty we don’t know about the plot, but based on what’s been revealed, and the stylish first-look photos, it’s clear that Cliff Booth’s story is far from over.
