Brad Pitt’s Cliff Booth Is Back, and Hollywood Has Changed in David Fincher’s New Trailer For ‘The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth’
Some sequels feel inevitable, and others feel like a fever dream that somehow got made. Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ ended with its own version of a fairy tale, so a follow-up was never a given. Yet here we are, with one of cinema’s coolest stuntmen back in the spotlight.
Buzz has been building for a long time. Brad Pitt and David Fincher were announced as teaming up in 2024 on a project that Tarantino originally wanted to direct. Once Tarantino gave his blessing for Fincher to take over, Netflix was the obvious home, given the director’s exclusive deal with the streamer.
Now audiences finally have a proper look: a new trailer for David Fincher’s ‘The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth’ has been released, and it runs 1 minute and 25 seconds. The film hits IMAX on Nov. 25.
The trailer had a quiet start. It played in theaters over the weekend ahead of some ‘Resident Evil’ screenings before Netflix put it online on Monday. Its soundtrack features Led Zeppelin’s ‘Black Dog.’
The footage opens with Cliff causing chaos at the Beverly Cinema, the theater Tarantino has owned since 2007. From there, the trailer promises mud-wrestling, murder, and car chases. It has the dark, sharp feel of Fincher combined with Tarantino’s dialogue.

The setting has moved forward in time. It’s 1977, eight years after the events of the original film, and Cliff has traded stunts for life as a studio fixer. Netflix’s synopsis describes murder, blackmail, theft, and extortion, or just another summer in Hollywood.
The cast is stacked. Along with Pitt, the film stars Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Peter Weller, Corey Fogelmanis and Timothy Olyphant. In the trailer, Debicki’s character asks Cliff about his time as Rick Dalton’s stunt double and what ended that partnership.
Behind the camera, Fincher reunites with cinematographer Erik Messerschmidt, and the film was shot on location in Los Angeles. Tarantino is on board as a producer alongside Pitt, David Heyman, Ceán Chaffin and Stacey Sher. The movie was formerly known simply as ‘The Adventures of Cliff Booth,’ before the title was updated.
The release plan is unusual. The film gets an exclusive two-week run in IMAX theaters starting Nov. 25, then arrives on Netflix on Dec. 23. Tarantino is also publishing a companion novel, ‘The Adventures of Cliff Booth,’ on Dec. 8.
Expectations are sky-high, and so is the price tag, with the film reportedly carrying a $200 million budget. Pitt won an Oscar for playing Cliff the first time around, so the pressure to deliver is real. If the trailer is any indication, the wait for this particular Hollywood sequel could be worth it.
