Brandon Sklenar has finally addressed the rumors that he might be playing Batman in James Gunn’s new DC Universe. With the role of the Caped Crusader still unconfirmed, fans have been speculating about several actors, and Sklenar has been a popular choice online.

During a recent appearance on the Today Show, Sklenar was asked about the rumors. He joked, “I mean that would be a dream, wouldn’t it? I was working in Spain and as I walked down the street someone called ‘Batman!’ It’s wild.”

Fans point to Gunn’s praise for Sklenar’s work in 1923 on the Peacemaker after-show podcast as a possible hint. Sklenar has also been preparing physically, sharing posts on Instagram showing his new, more muscular build. At 35, he is close in age to what Gunn has said he wants for his Batman, who is expected to be slightly older than Superman, played by David Corenswet.

The new Batman is set to appear in The Brave and the Bold, a film that will explore members of the Bat-Family. The movie will introduce Damian Wayne, Bruce Wayne’s son, as Robin, and will focus on a father-and-son story between Batman and Robin.

Gunn and Safran have emphasized that the DCU will have a single Batman. This new version will be separate from previous versions, such as Ben Affleck’s DCEU Batman and Matt Reeves’s The Batman under the Elseworlds label.

Andy Muschietti was originally set to direct The Brave and the Bold, but the project has been delayed to avoid overlapping with Reeves’s The Batman: Part II. Muschietti’s sister Barbara will co-produce alongside Gunn and Safran, and a script is already in development.

The casting of Batman remains a major talking point for DC fans, with anticipation growing as the DCU continues to take shape.
