Adam Scherr, better known to WWE fans as Braun Strowman, has his eyes set on a new career path, and it’s not inside the wrestling ring. Scherr recently revealed in an interview with Collider that he is stepping away from wrestling and wants to fully focus on acting.

“I’m semi-retired from wrestling now too because I want to be an actor,” Scherr said.

During the interview with Collider’s Perri Nemiroff, Scherr was asked which famous horror franchise he would love to join.

He didn’t hesitate with his answer. “Oh, Friday the 13th. Jason,” he replied, adding that he would even shave his trademark beard if it meant putting on the hockey mask.

Scherr teased that talks about the role may already be happening behind the scenes. “There may be some talks about it with people that I know and my agency. If we could ever get everybody to get back on the same page and allow the things to work, I might be the next Voorhees,” he explained.

The idea of Scherr taking on Jason Voorhees comes at a time when there has already been talk about bringing the Friday the 13th franchise back. In 2023, writer Jeff Locker, along with Jeremy Weiss and original creator Sean S. Cunningham, pitched a reboot and even a direct sequel to the original film.

However, in 2024 Cunningham mentioned that a new movie would still be a few years away, since studios were cautious about whether the franchise could still make money.

Things have started to shift more recently. In July of this year, producer Robbie Barsamian confirmed that a new Friday the 13th film and even a video game are in development. That timing could be exactly what Scherr is hoping for as he tries to land the role of horror’s most famous masked killer.

For now, nothing is official, but Scherr’s wrestling days seem to be behind him as he looks for his next big chapter on the big screen.
