Brenda Song (37) Slams Airline Over Airline Separating Her and Macaulay Culkin (45) From Their Children
What was meant to be a cheerful birthday vacation for Dakota Culkin quickly transformed into a public dispute between his parents and a major airline. Brenda Song, best known for her iconic Disney Channel roles, took to Instagram on March 21 to express her deep frustration with Alaska Airlines.
The actress claimed that the carrier gave away their first-class seats on the morning of their flight, despite the tickets being booked six months in advance. The last-minute seating change resulted in Song and her fiancé, Macaulay Culkin, being separated from their two young sons, four-year-old Dakota and three-year-old Carson.
“I didn’t know when you book your first class tickets 6 months in advance for your family of six for your son’s birthday — @alaskaair can just give away your seats the morning of with no warning,” Song shared with her followers. She concluded her message by stating she would never fly with the airline again and advised others to avoid them as well.

Macaulay Culkin, the star of the legendary Home Alone films, quickly supported his partner by sharing her post on his own social media. He added a touch of humor to the tense situation by writing, “Hell hath no fury as a Brenda scorned…” The public nature of their complaint led to a swift response from Alaska Airlines, whose representative called the situation unacceptable.
The airline issued a formal apology, acknowledging that the experience did not meet their standards for family travel. “Traveling can be stressful, especially with young children, and we pride ourselves on being a top airline for traveling families,” a spokesperson stated in a message reported by TMZ.
They confirmed that the company has since reached out to the family to attempt to resolve the issue and make amends for the friction caused during their trip. Public reaction to the incident has been largely supportive of the couple, with many travelers expressing concern over the policy of separating minors from their parents.
Some fans couldn’t help but draw parallels to Culkin’s most famous movie role, joking that the airline was accidentally trying to create a real-life version of Home Alone. Despite the travel headache, the family has otherwise been enjoying a very successful and private start to the year.
Song and Culkin have recently made headlines for their significant moves in the Los Angeles real estate market. In early March, the couple purchased a massive $10.3 million mansion in Sherman Oaks, which was once owned by Avril Lavigne. This new home is a major upgrade in scale, spanning over 10,200 square feet and featuring a resort-style pool, a private theater, and an extensive recreation level.
On the professional side, Brenda Song has remained a steady presence in both film and television. She is currently starring in the Netflix series Running Point, which debuted its first season in late 2025. She also appears in the film Operation Taco Gary’s.
Macaulay Culkin has also been keeping busy, having recently completed a successful 14-city nostalgia tour. While he has focused much of his energy on being a dedicated father, he recently attended the Golden Globe Awards in January, where he and Song made a rare and stylish red-carpet appearance.
Fans continue to hold out hope for a formal Home Alone sequel, especially after several viral fan-made trailers sparked renewed interest in the franchise this year.
